Is college phenom punter Matt Araiza worth a first round pick?

Could you imagine punting from inside your 10 and pinning teams inside their 10 on a regular basis?

This dude is the best punter in college football history and is putting up numbers that are ridiculous and better than anyone in NFL history as well...

Literally he is the team MVP.

So the question is, if you were able to draft a punter who can regularly hit 65-70 yard bombs and flip field position like nobody in NFL history could, is he worth a first round pick?

He's a lefty, Billy will grab him in NE assuming his hang time is decent and everyone will talk about how it's a great move. Might not be a first round pick, but I bet it will be higher than most expect. Not only will the ball travel further it will also be more difficult to catch. You are talking about a few yards of field position per punt which will be valuable to some.

Doesn't really make sense for a team with a good to very good offense.  Now, if I'm the Lions, maybe I'd consider a 3rd (but why not just use it on a player that can help make first downs so you don't need to punt.)

You're the Lions.  Take the punter. 🤨

No but Todd Sauerbrun was selected in the 3rd.  Apparently, the highest selected punter in the draft. Maybe this guy goes late 2nd round.

I stand corrected thanks to @poblano - per his note, Ray Guy was selected in the 1st and eventually made it to the HOF. Introduced into HOF the same year as Andre Reed.

The article brought up Bojorquez, sucks that he didn't want to do what McDermott wanted, he should still be a Bill. Makes you wonder what McD wanted him to do??

Keyshawn was known for 'Just Give Me the Damn Ball'.  McDermott was known for 'Just Hold the Damn Ball With the Laces Out!'.
