Tua has a problem tho, he just doesnt pass the eye test. in Joshs first year there were signs that we could see that made us go, yep, kids got a future. he wasnt polished, made dumb plays, but he would make enough wow plays to justify our thoughts. Tua doesnt do that, he doesnt have the physical gifts. hes smallish, needs a clean pocket, injury prone, and not really all that exciting to watch. all things coaches/gms/owners arent really interested in. given a few years on a patient team, Tua may develop into a decent QB. doubt he gets that chance. he is like a mixed DNA of Bridgewater and T Taylor. Not terrible not great just OK. Likable though just like the other two.
Nextmanup
Miami was looking good for a while there; a team on the uprise. That's all gone now! They are going right back to mediocrity and seem to headed for a coaching change, a QB change, and lots of turmoil. We are really lucky to be a solid team in a really bad division right now.

JohnNord
4 hours ago, corta765 said: Two things I think derailed what he was doing one which was his fault and the other not. The first was last years decision to bench Fitz. Through his first year and into his second with Fitz as the guy the team in general seemed to rally around him and Flores goal of high effort and culture. If you read the Fitz interview that came out I believe in August not only him but a lot of the players were gutted when they benched him. Even though they did win some games with Tua and were on the door of the playoffs I believe benching Fitz and then missing the playoffs in the way they did with Tua imploding laid the seeds for players to say "hmm I don't know" in the foundation. I have believed had they just let Fitz finish the season which probably leads to a playoff appearance AND then give the team to Tua the season you see in front of you never happens. The second is on ownership. Stephen Ross is obsessed with finding a true star like they had in Marino. It has been reported on numerous times how much he desires a franchise guy and I think put of Flores starting Tua was that pressure to have him jump in. The moment Watson said he wanted out Ross made it known he wanted Watson. When you upper mgmt is going one direction yet the coach has to tell the team Tua is your guy etc.. its a problem and would cause infighting and destroy your QBs confidence for any situation. So yea having your owner just constantly flaunting a different guy even if it is subtle really hurts building your team. You’re 100% correct. But I believe it even goes a step further when Flores hired Chan Gailey to design and offense for Fitz that Spring. Flores felt Fitz could take the team to the playoffs and rather than thinking long term, the immediacy was his focus. This was a giant mistake, as Flores probably should’ve hired an OC and used his input into drafting a QB. Chan designs an offense for Fitz that doesn’t really suit Tua. Once Tua started he couldn’t run the offense so Chan was forced to strip it down. Then using Fitzpatrick as a “reliever” totally undercut Tua. There always seems to be mixed messages of confidence about Tua as a starter and saying “Tua is our quarterback” seems to be the latest one.

Good enough for a solid season, but not someone anyone expects to take a team to the promised land.

eball
I may have posted this before; not sure. Last year after the season finale I texted my buddy who is a HUGE Bama fan. It was a simple question: “what is Tua’s elite skill?” It set him off. “He’s the most accurate QB I’ve ever seen. He still hasn’t fully recovered from his hip injury and before that he was faster than Jalen Hurts. He had no weapons.” He started comparing Tua’s first season to Josh’s and mentioned that they had the same career QBR. I LOL’d and rattled off Josh’s “weapons” his first season before realizing Robert Foster played at Bama, which to my buddy meant he was legit. Anyway, long story short, Bama fans believe(d) Tua was the second coming and are going to blame anything and everything on his misfortune except for his own performance. Has Flores done him any favors? No, but at some point a supposed “franchise” guy has to show glimpses of that promise. I mean, those of us who looked saw that from Josh his rookie season, despite the pedestrian stats. I don’t know whether or not Tua will ever fulfill the promise of greatness so many bestowed upon him, but I’m pretty certain it won’t be under the “guidance” of Flores…and probably not in a Fish uniform.

Change your title to this thread it is inaccurate. 8 hours ago, Rigotz said: Guys.... the article doesn't say that he feels unwanted. It says that he doesn't feel unwanted. Reading comprehension skills, folks. 100%. He is not complaining. He is answering a question and saying he does not feel unwanted (cleaning up the double negative a bit to make it more comprehendible) On the other hand, he doesn't say "I fell WANTED". But then again, as he is still the starting QB is that even necessary?

benderbender
Flores is reaping what he sowed for not playing Tua last year when healthy. At the very least, you could have gotten a good idea of whether or not he was the future of the franchise. The answer to that question alone would have been more valuable than a playoff appearance. And the defense is massively overrated.
