Allen vs Wash D

The passing game needs to get going and Allen needs to stop playing like crap. Period.

We are likely winning our next two games regardless, but if we take the team we saw the first two games into the Chiefs game in a few weeks, we are losing by 3+ scores.

Wondering if Allen plays poorly vs Washington will anyone be concerned? I know I will be. I think it's important that we see a better Allen this game. No more excuses.

So if JA plays well will that alleviate your concern or will you still be concerned thinking that him playing well vs. Washington was a fluke?

He hasn't played poorly yet.

He certainly hasn't played up to his last year's standard, but he also has not played poorly, he just hasn't.

If he did play poorly this game? It's always a bit concerning when there's a game like that, but no long-term concerns over one game against an excellent defense, no.

How do you think he is playing?

With respect, I disagree. I think he has played poorly and they stats bare that out. I guess its a matter of perspective. Prior to the start of this season, I don't think any Bills fan would have thought Allen's numbers would be so poor. Of course, other factors are in play. Additionally, imho its pretty clear his mechanics are off, he's not comfortable in the pocket, and inaccurate. Perhaps a better word is underperforming.

That’s not how the concernitives work. The concern just shifts to another aspect or unit of the team that didn’t quite reach their arbitrary and ill-defined standards.

I would love to see Allen play well. I'd be the first to praise his play. I want the Bills to win and him playing well obviously increases those chances. I'm not here to be right or prove others wrong. It's nothing personal. I just don't know why it's sac religious to criticise Allen. Go Bills Go Allen!

More specifically, I don't think him playing well would be a "fluke." He has a sample size last year of him playing outstanding. As a result, him playing well should be the norm and something we fans expect and deserve.

Why does being a concerned fan get so much criticism? Especially, if the concerns are valid, legitimate, and expressed in a positive professional manner.

Interesting. Is everything about the Bills unit at or above standards? Are there no areas of concern? Or should we just never talk about them?

okay i’ll try to answer you:

1. There is 87% of the regular season to go. I think any serious “concern” is premature.

2. Are there any Bills’ units at or above standards? Yes. The entire defense.

3. Don’t take it personally. A few years ago there was a small cadre of posters that griped all year, starting in the preseason. And they all used the same term - “concern.” So it’s stuck in my mind now.

He may be God to some round these parts but there is nothing religious about Josh's sac

Thanks for asking.

JA isn’t above critique. And yes, he’s been in a slump to start the season (although he did look like he started to snap out of it in the 2nd half of the Dolphins game. Time will tell).

That said, it’s the overreach by some. As @JoPoy88 said, being concerned after two games is premature. Respectfully, I don’t agree with you that the concern is valid right now. Why? Because even the greats have games or even a few weeks in a row where they don’t look great.

You mentioned that the norm should be him playing great. I agree. That said, part of the norm is also expecting clunkers and even extended slumps from time to time without sounding the alarm. Last year, which we both agree was a great year for Allen, included about a month long slump for him. The key was that he was able to push through it and still win games.

Again, it’s normal for franchise players to have clunkers or go through slumps, it’s how they respond to them that makes the difference. JA has the motivation, character, work ethic and drive to push through this just like he has when he’s gone through it before.

Completely agree 💯  and I’ll just add:

Anytime fans start talking about what they “expect and deserve” (deserve especially) my red flags go up. It may be foreign to some, but fans don’t “deserve” anything from any athlete. Get over yourselves.

I think it is both ways.

Fans are over-reacting

JA himself has said he needs to play much better than the past two games.

Post-game tape shows that Allen was rattled in game #1 and played within himself and milking the game to victory
