WotAGuy
Because kids imitate that behavior. When my 5-year old grandson spikes my Depends right in front of me, instead of handing it to me like a gentleman, it makes me so mad.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower
The problem I have is when its enforced and how inconsistently it gets called. I've seen games ruined by random calls of this type. It also can be a problem if it gets enforced all the time (no one would like that). So when do you call it? I guess in a game where a blowout is occuring and someone is acting like an a-hole. Otherwise, put the flag away.
Scott7975
I hate taunting penalty but they probably have it to help curb fighting.

That's just being hyped up. You can make a play and celebrate. You can’t do it in an opponents face. Especially if you are standing over them. ticketssince61
... but after a turnover, having the whole defense running the entire length of the field, sliding in the endzone, and doing a choreographed routine is not? 1

boater
The NFL opposes any behavior that could lead to fighting. They are trying very hard to not be the NHL. I'm OK with that.

The rule is the rule now and this year they are “emphasizing” enforcement on it. don’t celebrate right on top of the opposing player. That’s basically the rule. You can look up the exact language of it but I’m sure you won’t considering what you post around here. Don’t blame the refs…blame the rule book guys…
Might Rather
The fine line between taunting and be competitive in the moment is tough. IMO people are getting soft but as a competitor I see how things can get out of hand in the moment. I still say let em play
1ManRaid
It's called being a professional, and not being a bad example for kids looking up to you. Too many players talking about how football gave them an opportunity and a better life away from gangs, then act like thugs on national television.
