Bills D...might be #1 ranked after week 2(Ranked 2nd to Carolina))

Allowed 252 yards to Steelers and 216 to the Dolphins. Average of 234 yards per game which is paltry.

This DLine is getting after it.

Epenesa looks possessed out there...he could have had 4 sacks today by himself easily if not more...

Bodes well for the season heading forward.

Now the offense needs to get it together.

They looked good and helped the offence with turnovers,  the true test will be in week 5 against KC. I liked the pass rush but again what do they do against top dog KC

And though the sacks are great, Epenesa also showed why pressures can be just as impactful.  He created an errant pass and knocked the quarterback out of the game on a 4th down play.  This hit may have been the most impactful play of the game. (Though I think Brissett was better equipped to deal with the pressure.)

Haven’t seen much from Jerry this year, which is fine considering how good AJE and Groot have looked.

I think by late in the season Basham (and maybe Obada) will both regularly be active, likely at the expense of either Hughes or Addison.

Just read today was M Hyde's first sack as a Bill.  That is surprising to hear.

JAG Harry can stay inactive first, didn’t miss him at all today.

That could happen too, I was more looking at it from a DE to DE standpoint.  But could mix things up.  Admittedly Harry isn't really needed that much if Star is healthy as he comes out on passing plays anyway.  Do you really need a true backup for Star as Butler or Zimmer could fill in a pinch.

I’d rather see Butler at 1T if necessary & Boogie/Obada inside for a couple plays. Oliver, Star, and Zim should get the most snaps.

The team is creating an identity. Last years team was hard to watch at times.

You mean the defense?  Last year's team passed the ball better than any Bills team ever.

That identity worked for me just fine.

  • Big Turk changed the title to Bills D...might be #1 ranked after week 2(Ranked 2nd to Carolina))

Also keeping this in mind: it was Africa hot out there today, and except for some minor issues, conditioning was terrific. Also, in the first half the Defense was on the field a lot and yet they kept bringing the "heat" (see what I did there?...ok, I'll show myself out) and the Offense taking the ball to start the 2nd half helped them get more rest and finish the game pretty strong.

It took me some snaps before I realized in the final 4 minutes they didn't even play their starters at some positions on Defense. Well done overall.

Ysrds is the dumbest measure for a defense but I know that is how they are ranked. The D is playing really well by other measures. #2 in sacks with 8. They are middle of the road in takeaways with 3. Had the White INT not been called back they would be top 10 in takeaways too.

Perhaps the best stat is the YPA given up at only 4.9.  That is #1 in NFL and 0.5 ahead of the second ranked team and 1.3 YPA better than last years best team atv6.2 YPA.

I've been beating the drum for better pass rush for years. Beane tried to address with veterans last year. This year he has a better mix of youth and experience.
