I've seen enough from the youngster Edge Rushers: Trade Mario Addison!

AJ Epenesa and Greg Rousseau have both looked outstanding. Jerry Hughes obviously isn't going anywhere, and rightly so. That makes Obada and 2nd round pick Basham our 4th and 5th DEs. Even Bam Johnson -- in whom the Bills have invested a lot of time and coaching -- is starting to really look the part on defense, in addition to his contributions on special teams. That's six edge rushers right there, the top 4 of whom I feel pretty darn good about.

With the sudden depth of the defensive line and the surprisingly stout play of Epenesa and Rousseau, is it time for Beane to hit the phones and find a trade partner willing to acquire Mario Addison? Would there be a significant contract savings for the Bills if they did so?

Am I taking crazy pills?!

p.s. I sure wish the Bills would've given Mario's money for this season to Ty Nsekhe instead, because HOLY COW is the backup tackle situation suddenly frightening with Brown and Doyle injured and Bobby Hart playing like...well....like Bobby Hart.

Anyway...trading Addison...yay or nay?

I don’t know if they will be able to find a trading partner for Addision.  I still think after a long discussion he is cut and added as a PS player with the new rules.  The same thing goes for Butler.

If they can get a trade - even for a 7th - great, but I think they are bubble candidates to fill experienced PS spots.

I don’t think Nsekhe was ever an option - he was hurt on and off the last 2 years and with his age - it made no sense and he is hurt again - so that would of been wasted money.

I doubt anyone is going to trade for Addison unless we see some big injuries to a contender kinda team. Someone like San Fran or Seattle might give up a late pick.
It will definitely suck if we hold on to Jerry and Addison and they are gassed out by week 10, it will suck even more if we cut a younger guy who is starting to take off on another team around week 10.

Maybe a better idea to keep Addison and trade Jerry Hughes to Atlanta for Hayden Hurst and maybe a pick.

While there are definitely exceptions, rookies typically go through stretches of struggle even if they’re really good. You definitely want to have some veteran presence around (especially when they’re still good) like a Jerry Hughes type.

Jets would likely part with a 5th.
MIA still needs DE

Giants

Jags

AZ

off the top of my head. Likely could get a 5th or 6th.

2.8 M Dead this year. 2.0M dead next year and a cap savings of 5M in a trade.

Only 2M and some change on a release.

Is Addison even tradable

Sure could get a 5th - 7th. Or even a player for player in a position that is weaker in Depth and the player is on the Bubble in his current team.

I would do either one of those if we could do it Bobby

Would much rather see the younger guys and Obada on the field

No reason to trade Addison. The veteran presence will be helpful for the kids this year.

Only have 53 spots. GOOD players are NOT going to make this team.

I would have been on the phone with the Jets the minute Lawsons Achilles Injury was confirmed and he was gone for the year.

Not happening.  He saves very little and unless another team is desperate, I doubt it.

Might as well keep him for depth or with the continuation now of the pandemic PS rules, throw him there.  Remember these are only vanilla called preseason games.  Addison will only be a pass rushing specialist so he might only play on third downs.  McD will figure it out.

Agree.  Addison, Hughes, Epenesa, Basham, Obada, Rousseau, Star, Oliver, Butler, and probably Zimmer.  Johnson is the odd man out at DE and Phillips may be on IR or cut.  Basham is your swing DE/DT.

Replace Johnson (core STer) with Addison or Butler.

both offer the same imo. You can move on from Butler or Addison and not have a problem.

Butler only makes it if Phillips is IR'd, imo. (To be fair you point out such a scenario).
