  1. 1. Which will the Bills miss the most this year?

My 1st thought was Roberts but the more I thought about it I realized while he was a very good KR he was just an average PR. McKenzie showed more in the Miami game. He was a specialist occupying a WR spot on the roster. We are loaded this Year at the position and hard cuts will be made. Not to even mention the ramifications on the Cap in a year when it went down. I settled on Marlowe because when he was on the field he made plays. Saunders eases the loss of Brown but his speed may still be missed  on the outside.

My biggest fear is starting to be Beasley.  I think we should be able to overcome the current losses without any drastic hiccups but in losing Beasley we will lose an entire dimension of our offense.  Hopefully this whole situation will smooth itself out but looking rocky right now.

This is a good topic.

I think it is easy to go with Roberts because he had some really nice plays last year.  However I think McKenzie and the rookie DB can fill his return duties.

I went with Nsekhe. Obviously he barely played last year but he was a low end starter quality swing tackle.  I am not sure Bates or either of the rookies are as good as Nsekhe, and if either starting tackle got hurt they would be worse off this year.

I really liked Brown and hoped they would find a way to redo his contract and keep him.  But have to give Beane props here. Sanders is just as capable and less injury prone even though he is a bit older. Solid replacement move.

As odd as it will sound they may miss Lee Smith and Kroft unless they make the move to get Ertz. Even though I have very high hopes for Knox there still is not a lot of talent/depth in the TE group. My guess is they will carry/dress an extra OT to play the role of third TE in goal line and short yardage situations.

Roberts is a safe choice, unless McKenzie or someone else can step in effectively. But the field flipper the team no longer has is Bojo. I think, Haack may prove an upgrade over the course of the season, but I think there will be situations we will miss Bojo when a punt really needs to be blasted 60 yards.

The field flipping did not become that useful since too many teams between the 20 yard lines were able to make plays fairly easily down the field.

I think the Bills are looking for the big play on special teams which is why Roberts was not a priority.   Haack has been part of special plays.

Bojo had issue over kicking the ball.

Good at downing inside the 20

If the Bills are looking for a punter who can down the ball inside the 20, Haack may be the perfect punter.

Twice in his career, Haack has had games where he has downed the ball inside the 20-yard line seven times. He also holds the Dolphins’ record for most punts inside the 20-yard line (34 punts).

I think Hollister is every bit the "all around" TE that Kroft was for the Bills-- and Allen has deep chemistry with Hollister going back to Wyoming. I don't think we'll miss Kroft one bit.

Lee Smith, on the other hand... few QBs had as much time to throw the ball as Allen last season. Along with the O-line, Smith, Moss, and even Lil' Dirty did their part in pass pro. And for a player that many color commentators referred to as "blocking tight end Lee Smith," Allen snuck him several passes, and two touchdowns last season.

I'll miss him. I'm a Lee Smith fan.

Lee Smith was important for AFCW games where he was familiar with all four teams and was used as blocker including passing.

Hopefully this year someone else can pick up slack for none of the TEs are that good at blocking/.

I thought Roberts was a home run waiting to happen. How many times did he give great field position in a league where most kickoffs are touchbacks. He returned punts and occasionally lined up as a 5th receiver. He was expensive but such a productive player. He will be missed unless someone steps up.

He had a sunny disposition, and a delightful sense of humor.

I should have listed his wife as an option. According to Beane she was the social director and played a big role in the team being as close as it was. He should have hired her so they stuck around.

Who replaced Dean Marlowe?

Hamlin, perhaps?  I think that's what they hope.

I see nobody on this list that will be someone they regularly miss, down in and down out over the season.  But  I think they might miss one of these in special circumstances. That's why I chose Roberts and Bojo. There WILL be situations when the Bills punt from deep in their own end. Maybe not many, but some. In those situations, Bojo might be missed.

If none of the backup safeties/DBs work out, Marlow will be very high on that list. But I have faith in the Bills developing defensive backs.

I really think we’ll miss roberts he was a great returner

Was he really though?  He had a few nice returns in Buffalo but other times he brought the ball out of the endzone and ended up getting stuffed deep inside Bills territory.  That seemed to be a strategy for other teams - just kick the ball in the endzone because Roberts likely won’t make it to the 25.  It was also telling how in 2 season in Buffalo he never broke a punt or kickoff for a TD.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a good at kickoff returns, but I’m not sure he’ll be missed as much as some here
