The American Media Should Not Be Trusted

The South Florida Sun Sentinal framed an order signed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis this way:

As you can see, the tweet that read “DeSantis will sign order to ban masks in Broward schools” been deleted. One reason is that DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw dropped another “fake news” hammer on some media spin:

No correction, they just took it down when caught.

YES, BUT HE’S A DEMOCRAT:

Several Media Outlets Knew Cuomo Was Trying To Destroy One Of His Accusers.

“Several media outlets knew that Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was trying to destroy one of the women who accused him of sexual harassment. Rich Azzopardi, Cuomo’s director of communications and senior adviser, sent a file on Cuomo accuser Lindsey Boylan to journalists from several prominent outlets, documents show.

The files were sent hours after Boylan publicly accused Cuomo of sexual harassment in December of 2020. . . . New York Attorney General Letitia James announced Tuesday that an independent investigation found that Cuomo had sexually harassed multiple women. James said that Cuomo had violated state and federal law by subjecting employees to offensive or sexually charged comments as well as unwanted touching. He also was involved in pressure campaigns to keep them quiet, the investigation found.”

If I didn’t know it was American media, I would have thought it was Chinese propaganda...American msm has become “the enemy within”...

You simply cannot have ideologically driven journalists pushing their own agenda in a free democracy...

Mainstream media is State propaganda

Anybody that doesn't believe so is just hiding behind the curtain

This is much more light hearted but this guy often tried to mix sports with politics and always comes off this stupid. The US has always counted total medal and this article pretends we started this method because we were losing the gold medal count. We usually win all three medal counts handily so this year being an odd year is not related to why this is happening.

I spent a lot of time recently listening and reading the views of a lot of liberal thinkers and bloggers.  Not the current crop of social justice types but people that hold more conventional and traditional liberal views on issues like economics, opposition to government, and issues of poverty.  What I discovered was that although I view my personal positions as more right to center than these "left" thinkers I found myself agreeing with the majority of their conclusions and positions.  And as a result I've adjusted my perspective on the way I view and assess the motives and actions of institutions like the media.  One of those adjustments is questioning the current left vs. right or liberal vs. conservative disagreements and conflicts over various social issues.

As a result of this adjustment in thinking I've concluded the media is just another instrument of distraction.  A generator of conflict.  Used by the wealthy and powerful 1% elites to draw attention away from themselves and focus the publics attention on other issues.  While pitting them against each other in order to divert all attention away from themselves and their actions.

The "differences" between the Democrats and Republicans are "fake".  An illusion perpetrated against the voters.  The Clinton's, Bush's, Biden's, Chaney's, and other political "royalty" are a single entity.  They attend the same Ivy League schools, the same social circles, the same life experiences.  They are all members of the elite political class.  Their policies are 99% the same.  Nothing fundamental changes.

They're supported by the big corporate sector.  Big social media, Wall Street, the defense industry, Drug and Health insurance companies, and others.  Companies that push social justice and "diversity" while continuing to exploit workers, make huge profits, destroy communities, and pay the social justice crowd off so they focus on other targets.

The unelected elements of government.  What some call the "deep state" that is unchanged or uninterrupted regardless of which party or which administration is in charge.  Political appointments, career political operatives embedded in the agencies and departments.  The intelligence community.  All working for the elites.  Something I never thought about was the fact that the President and Vice President are the only elected officials in the entire Executive branch of government.  State government, slightly different.

These forces and others work to distract the public from real issues of economic justice.  Like how the rich have become obscenely wealthier while the poor got poorer and the middle class got smaller.  They stage conflicts between segments of the working and middle class.  So the 1% are free to steal everything and anything not bolted down through the back door.  And screw everybody and get away with it without anyone noticing.

The public spends more time debating the merits of transgender bathroom rights than it does discussing and debating the merits of a $850B defense budget.  How that money is spent, who benefits, what wars we are in or getting into and why.   Why we have 600 overseas military bases.  Why will have troops in Syria, still bomb places like Somalia, what's our role in Yemen with the Saudi's?

Its time to wake up. Left, Right, Liberal, Conservative, everybody.  And push back.  And demand answers and real changes.

It’s not even 1%, it’s like .01%

No “contains misinformation” flag on that one? We see you, Twitter.

How does this ludicrous sensational headline not qualify as covid misinformation?

The media thrives on this sort of panic porn.

All the sheeple need to take a deep breath over this sort of fearmongering delta, delta plus, lambda BS.

Infectious, yes. Deadly, not so much.

The liberal media is so dishonest that they need to eliminate discussions on their articles. CNN, Yahoo, MSNBC, and more do not allow any comments on any article that is political. Basically it gives them the right to lie, and then deny the right to a factual rebuttal based on hurting a morons feelings.

I miss the yahoo comments :(

but they do it for your ‘safety’

what they are really doing is controlling the narrative as much as possible. And it’s worrisome since companies/corporations are now trying to become authority figures. Anything associated with the left is now obsessed with thought and behavior control of an entire society. Their followers want to be told this crap for whatever reason I don’t understand. They are zombies

I know the leftist will say, ‘well what about Fox News and church?! They are trying to control your thoughts and behavior!’

and as a moderate this is what I say to them: I think Fox News is stupid too and the church doesn’t and should never try to influence everyones thought and behavior that’s not a part of it.

If you apply critical thinking and logic with a dose of skepticism while questioning authority and holding them accountable then nobody can control you.  If you do this then you're in control of your thoughts and ideas and more than capable of independent and original thinking to form opinions and beliefs.  Basically what the neo-liberals believe is people are not capable of original thinking.  That's false premise.  Original and independent thinking are some of the traits that make America unique.  Its a primary driver of progress and invention.  That's my answer to that bolded question.

The media faces a few big problems the first of which is that if they lie to me unfortunately I can't trust them.  Most Americans feel this way now.  Another big problem is peer-to-peer communications like this board and social media platforms have rendered their traditional methods of top-down hierarchical organization for controlling and censoring the "news" obsolete.  And at this point they've resorted to outright censorship and suppression of anything that doesn't support their narratives.  Its so obvious everyone knows.  Their grip on news and information is so shaky that honestly I'm more inclined now to "believe" what they censor more than what they let pass through.  They have lost all control and like a drowning man are thrashing around back and forth trying to stay alive.

Their credibility is shot.  When I need a good laugh during the day I find myself tuning in to CNN or some other media outlet for some comic relief.  Who needs Comedy Central when you've got Rachel Maddow?  Is she still looking for Russians?  Those people can't possibly believe all the crap they're spewing, can they?  How they can keep themselves from gut-busting laughter on the set is a testament to their self-control.
