He has started in every game he has played in for the Bills. He has position flexibility, which McD, and Beane highly value. When Morse is out, they move Feliciano over to center, even when we've had Long, or Bates listed as backup center. He very effective at pass protection. As a Bill, he has never allowed a sack. Throwing a fist tho, now that's different, and they are WAY more invested in Epenesa than Feliciano. Plus they got Lamp and Hart in the chamber and Feliciano got man handled by Chris Jones vs the Chiefs last season. Plus Feliciano's contract doubles in 22, 23? Pretty obvious if he wants to turn his team mates into punch bags during OTA's he can pack his bags. Beane brought in a tonne of talent (physically/metaphorically) to test him for his spot so he shouldn't be doing bonehead stunts like this. Epenesa had the interception against Allen, undrafted rookie Tariq Thompson picked off Mitchell Trubisky and Josh Thomas picked off Trubisky in a seven-on-seven drill. Thomas also had a pass break up against Jake Fromm. Thomas was in a red, no-contact jersey but was flying around the field making plays. Overall, Allen and the passing offense didn’t find much of a rhythm in this practice. Allen missed Tanner Gentry on a deep shot early in practice and watched Sweeney drop a deeper pass over the middle later in practice. Allen was without Diggs, Sanders and McKenzie, so it’s not a surprise the defense had the edge. The splash plays might not always be there with Wallace, but he’s managed to hold steady early in this competition, one that won’t begin in earnest until training camp begins. It’s important to remember Wallace has been dealing with training camp competition every year since he’s been with the Bills. Jackson is just the latest challenger to his spot. And this shouldn’t be a zero-sum game. There is room for both Jackson and Wallace to rotate and make contributions to this defense. Quote Isaiah Hodgins had a pair of catches from Allen on Tuesday. While he continues to wear a red jersey in practice, Hodgins has some of the most reliable hands on the roster. He’s a big target who catches just about everything that hits his hands. We’ve touched on Hodgins in this space before. The clear test will come when physicality is introduced into the equation, but he has an obvious understanding of how to play the position. If he can translate it to a quicker and more violent pace, he’ll have a chance to make the team. Brandon Powell also stood out with two catches from Tribusky. He had four catches a week ago from three different quarterbacks. Powell was signed to compete as a return man, but he did have six catches for 103 yards in the season final for the Lions in 2018. He hasn’t gotten a lot of opportunity as a receiver in his career, but maybe he has some untapped potential. If Powell makes the team as a returner, the Bills may occasionally need him as a receiver given how often they spread the field. Quote What’s next? The Bills have three days of mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, June 15. All three days will be open to reporters. The Bills will then break for the summer until training camp.
