Bourbon Street is fun if you’re in college or your twenties. After that it’s disgusting. Restaurants are awesome and architecture is cool.

A few years back we went to NOLA then a few weeks later found ourselves in Savannah, GA. I texted a buddy and said it was about as nice as NOLA, but sadly without the great music. On the plus side, it also lacked the smell of urine and vomit everywhere you went.

There is a reason the taxis had signs telling you the amount of the penalty if you “peed, puked or pooped” in the taxi. It happens enough to make the signs standard.

Still a great place and I’d love to get back, but after my three trips there there are other places I’d like to see for the first time.

I vaguely remember somebody making a post in here about a great restaurant to get a Thanksgiving style dinner in NO but now I can't find it anywhere.  Now that I know I am going to the game was hoping to look more into that.  Did I actually read that before or was that something I have made up in my mind...Help!

Dedicate a whole day just for the WW2 museum. It’s huge and a lot to take in.

Great museum.  Was down to NOLA a couple of times for work and only got to spend four hours there once when it was just the D Day museum.  As you said, it's expanded to include all of WWII now...I'd love to see it some time.

Savannah is a great 2 day trip. Good architecture.  Good food. Not much to do after 2 days though

Yea their fans are the nicest in the world. I just lived their for the last six months and man is the city in rough shape. Hope they can clean it up by fall.

We did airbnb for the last game btw. Condo right off bourbon. Stumble home.

I went to graduate school in New Orleans and stayed for almost 20 years, I have probably been to 50 saints games.

They CAN be very nice and/or they can be incredibly;y obnoxious rude drunks.  If the Saints are in contention and the game is close they will be downright vicious, especially in the cheap upper deck.  The ones sitting in the expensive lower seats, more money, are on average very nice.

Has anybody been to a Thanksgiving game? Curious about ticket prices and timing.

There are going to be 6 of us. Looks like we are $250+ to sit way up high. I’m thinking sticker price is high since the season is just kicking off. I can’t imagine NO is all that great with either Hill or Winston. I’d expect to see a price drop.

When I lived in OKC I thought of hitting a Dallas game on Thanksgiving just because it was something to do. They were a quality team, Romo was playing, and I could grab tickets the week before at sun $200.

Any thoughts?

A Thanksgiving game, oh boy.  That is probably the WORST time to visit there if you are going to a game.   That is the same weekend as the Bayou Classic so the stadium, and hotels, especially the cheap one will be full.

The Hyatt adjacent to the Super Dome gets trashed after every Bayou Classic.

If you are going I would consider booking my hotel NOW!!

I got an Airbnb already for pretty cheap. But tickets are still pretty expensive now. $250 ea for nosebleeds after taxes and fees for 6. I’m holding out and hoping they drop.

From my experience, if the Saints suck (they will) you will definitely get a cheaper ticked t by then UNLESS the city is invaded by Bills fans.  Where is your Airbnb?    I would recommend either Uber/Lyft or United Cab.  Driving around NOLA is not easy, you wave to know how to negotiate the median grounds, the trolleys, brutally dangerous neighborhoods if you make a wrong turn.

I actually think that the Saints will be a decent team this year. Their defense was very good last year. Winston will either make the adjustments needed and they’ll win 10-12 games or he won’t and Hill will win 8-10. Just good enough to keep prices high. But hoping they blow.

I guess if you’re looking for a pristine, sterile environment, Nawlins ain’t the place for you, but it’s definitely rich with its own brand of culture …. Bourbon street can be a shite show, but fun nevertheless, with some great music to be found.  It’s definitely a foodies paradise. Archie Manning has a nice place right near Harrahs Casino, and the WWII museum is definitely worth a visit. Check out the market by Jackson square, and try one of the bar/ghost tours.  Deuce Staley has a place next to the Wyndham on Royal street also. Never been to the Superdome, but we’ll be there thanksgiving evening!

Wrong Deuce, and last I knew the Ole Saint was closed. Not sure if it will reopen post-pandemic.

Muggy as anything outside,  but fun game day experience. Very loud though. Went to bills/saints game there back in 99 when flutie and Johnson torched ditka’s saints.

My wife (then girlfriend) and I were at that game. It was our first Bills game.

Is anyone going to the fans of buffalo tailgate? We have a group of 11 going, they said they're gonna have 2k bills fans at the tailgate. They have a normal ticket (45$, unlimited beer) and a vip one (85$, free beer/cocktails and food), we all got the vip. We already bought tickets to the tailgate so we're locked in but wondering if theres anything else people are going to.

I have been to Saints games probably 30 times.

If you sit in the expensive seats you will have a great time and lower is not as loud.  People are civilized and actually try and watch the game.

The upper deck, cheap seats, it is a entirely different world.  People go to get stupid drunk, are loud and ignorant. Wear Bills gear up there and you will be mocked incessantly and a few "tough" guys might want to demonstrate hoe macho they are.

I can also tell you if it is a night game, be very careful, to the North and the east it immediately turns into some very bad neighborhoods with little light.  Even Canal at night can be dangerous but there will be plenty of cops.  The best thing about a football game in NOLA is the French Quarter is an easy walk.  That is why NOLA is proabaly the BEST venue for a Super Bowl, everyone goes in the quarter before and after the game.    I had some great times.
