JERUSALEM (AP) — Explosions have been heard in Jerusalem after air raid sirens sounded.

The sirens came Monday, shortly after the Hamas militant group in Gaza had set a deadline for Israel to remove its security forces from the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Abu Obeida, spokesman for Hamas’ military wing, said the rocket attack was a response to what he called Israeli “crimes and aggression” in Jerusalem. “This is a message the enemy has to understand well,” he said.

He threatened more attacks if Israel again invades the Al-Aqsa compound or carries out evictions of Palestinian families in a neighborhood of east Jerusalem.

The sounds of outgoing rocket fire were heard in Gaza shortly before the sirens went off. Later, a new barrage of rockets was heard.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

Wonder if this makes it easier for Israel to evict those Palestinians families from their homes to appease the religious fanatics that want the land?

Have to feel for the underdog. Israel of all countries claiming that old territory should be “given back” to the supposed rightful owners. Ya right. I mean if you apply the law to the whole country, then the occupation would have to end and Israel would be done. This is just a land grab by religious extremists

(CNN)Israel's Supreme Court on Sunday postponed a hearing on the possible eviction of several Palestinian families from their homes in Jerusalem and will set a new date within 30 days.

The Supreme Court said the hearing, which was supposed to take place Monday, was canceled at the request of the State Attorney General.

Last week, the court said it would hear an appeal by the Palestinian families against their eviction from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem, in the latest development in a decades-long legal case.

At least 100 Palestinians injured in 2nd night of clashes with Israeli police in Jerusalem

A pro-settler organization called Nahalat Shimon is using a 1970 law to argue that the owners of the land before 1948 were Jewish families, and so the current Palestinian landowners should be evicted and their properties given to Israeli Jews.

Palestinians say restitution laws in Israel are unfair because they have no legal means to reclaim property they lost to Jewish families in the late 1

I am curious how you come to the conclusion that Israel is not by every right the property of the Jews. They inhabited it 3000 years ago at the beginning of the records of the area, they were violently overtaken, and then took it back. They have the majority of the people in Israel, they give the Palestinian Arabs more rights than any other country in the area, and they have the military might in the area. The main argument against them is that Britain and the US put Israel in control but that does not negate all of the other facts that are more important.

They are just stealing land. Period.

Would you say the same if it was New Jersey? (Well maybe New Jersey...but you get the point.)

New Jersey can just pick on an ethnic group and take away their homes and property because some religious fanatics want it?

What in the hell are you talking about Jim?

Jim? No?

Back on topic; Israel is a free country. There are people of many religions living there, including Palestinians.
