Why draft a good young player on a rookie contract when you can use that pick to pay a good young player on a second contract.

Get a guy that impacts immediately. Trading for a sure thing, could miss on the draft pick.

We need to hit on rookie contract guys in order to stay competitive when Josh Allen's contract hits.   We can swing a Diggs trade once in a while, but that can't become a regular thing.

Is there a player out there, that the bills could trade there 1 for that could be available? Player under 27 yrs old, that could step in right away. Similar to what the Rams have been doing.

32 years old, but Julio Jones can be had, would Dallas trade one of their WRs to save dollars, would Washington deal one of their DEs, are the Steelers willing to sell off any of their parts (maybe not because they are going for one last run with Ben), can you get KJ Wright to leave Seattle?

My guess is, every organization looks over the rosters/salaries on other teams and thinks up possible trade scenarios.

Isnt KJ Wright a FA?

There are only two spots on the roster that would make sense.  Edge and TE.   There are only a few TE's in the league worthy of giving up a first round pick, and none of them would be traded by their respective teams.  That leave edge rusher. As has been pointed out the cost of a veteran edge is substantial.  They don't have the cap space to pull that off.

They need to get younger on the DL.

Beane just needs to make some solid moves and picks.  Just come away with one additional dynamic player on offense - RB or TE and an edge rusher early and add depth at center, CB, 1-tech DT.

Any suggestions?  These threads work better if you start with some ideas.

Yes he is, but you know what I mean.

I would think if you want a proven starter, it takes combing through rosters/salary cap numbers and seeing if there are trades that can be made.

The Falcons have a new Coach and up against the salary cap, maybe after tonight they are starting a full rebuild, or one last run with Matt Ryan, maybe some of their talent might be on the block.

The Eagles are former contender, do they give up a Brandon Graham for instance?

Such terrible logic

Terrible logic? drafting at 30 the bills are drafting a 2nd round pick UNLESS they get lucky and a guy on their board falls to them. Any given yr teams usually only have 15-20 guys with 1st round grades. IF the bills can trade for a guy with immediate impact it is well worth it.

How much spare money have they got to pay this proven performer they are trading for?

We know Beane doesn’t like kicking the can down the road salary cap wise
