How is it any way a positive for CWade to be indentured to the Bills for a third year?  The man should have a chance to play for a team that wants him.  This is just so wrong.

List of teams that want him:

??? - The man literally has a chance to play with anyone that wants him.  It is not automatic that he has to stay with the Bills or be an exempt PS player - He has to clear waivers and every team has a chance to sign him before going on the PS.  He also does not need to agree to the pathways extension and can become a FA.  He has options, but as a very limited player - those choices are limited.

The fact is a RB with little experience that has not shown much of anything has very, very little value.  Wade had no place to go last year and this actually gives him a chance as an extra player to remain on the team into preseason and maybe put a bit of tape out there no matter how limited.  It also gives him an option to remain in the NFL for an extra year.

Without the Pathways program - he is cut after year one and is out of the NFL.  You want to see the positive of the program look at Obada - he failed in multiple training camps before the start of the program.  Then he got into the pathways program and with the things he learned in his failed training camps and the training in the program - he made a team and plays in the NFL.

If he is good enough to make the roster - great, but now he has a chance to remain with a team and continue to learn and make money and share and grow his experiences.  If he puts good tape out - he can also make the roster, the regular PS, or get poached by another team.  The final scenario is that if all of that fails - he and the Bills now have an option to go the pathways route again and give him one more year.

Fine, then let it be that way.  This NFL reserve clause bull#### is 45 years out of date.

But can he opt out of the Pathways Program?

I’m not sure what you mean by indentured. He can leave and sign with another team if they want to give him a roster spot.

I don’t think you really understand what you’re talking about right now... Wade himself is on record saying he still has so much to learn and that the playbook still gives him difficulties, he’s still learning block concepts, etc.

If you want to throw him out on the field on game day that’s cool... but you’d likely be the first to whine when he makes a mistake.

He legitimately has 2 years of professional football experience... he’s a world class athlete learning a brand new sport... everyone knows he isn’t ready.

Not if he’s part of the International program. Bills get an exemption and teams aren’t allowed to poach him.

This is the opposite of how he feels, I'm sure. His NFL career hopes just got a big lifeline.

Unless the program changed, the Bills own him for another year.  He's on the PS and protected, and cannot be picked up by another team.

He either makes the 53 with the Bills or he’s waived at cut-down. He can be claimed off waivers by another team at that point. If he’s not, the Bills can sign him to the PS with or without the exemption. If another team claims him, they also have the option to use the exemption.

😕  Sigh...if we could have only done something similar for Robert Foster...

Why would he even if he could? It would mean teams would have to treat him like a normal PS player and they’re less likely to use a spot on him because he’s learning how to play football...

"For me, it's knowing the protections and making sure I can react quickly. For me, that's the thing I have to have down solid for me to be able to be on the field and get regular reps."

Let’s have him out there not knowing the protections or being unsure of himself. That’s injury waiting to happen for him and God forbid Josh. Wade understands what is happening. He’s even said Buffalo is the best spot for him... I don’t think he feels owned or indentured. He’s there to learn right now...

It’s either that or rugby back in the UK. Or did he retire from rugby?

Could be...... or maybe another team could sign him and use him?  Now, it’s pretty much guaranteed he’ll be on the PS all year, not play and won’t have a chance to play for another team.....unless he beats out brieda, motor or Jones, which I doubt.

hopefully McB gives the kid the option of hanging out on the ps or giving him a chance to catch on elsewhere and decide his own fate.  He’s not a kid in RB years
