I just meant that it was cool to hear that the vaccine works, not that 9 people got covid. That’s terrible (they did refuse the vaccine, but still... obviously best wishes for a speedy recovery for them!).

No worries, BF4. I knew exactly where you were coming from. Unmasked people in bars and restaurants catching the virus and spreading it is stark proof that SARS-CoV-2 is NOT finished with us yet, no matter how much we want to act like it is.

I got both shots at Walgreens. They were given by a pharmacist, not an RN. The woman was 100% professional; the shots were painless and the side effects were nothing but limited arm pain which went away quickly. There was no wait at all. 

 

I was completely satisfied. 

 

My kid's boyfriend got his first Moderna jab today at Walgreens.  Said they were very efficient, took him immediately, only wait was the 15 minute for rare side effects.  Ithaca.

 

Spouse got 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday at a Hy-Vee (supermarket) pharmacy in Kirksville MO.  Again, no wait to take him, very efficient, 15 minute wait in a spatially distanced waiting room.  Sore arm, no other effects so far.

 

Neighbor jabbed at a pharmacy in Illinois 2 1/2 weeks ago, similar experience.

 

Friend "one and done" at Health Mart pharmacy in DeSoto MO earlier this week, J&J, all good.  She's kinda sarcastic but then she's always kinda sarcastic.

 

I think the occasional pharmacy and the occasional hospital or mass clinic will have a wait or be inefficient but for the most part I've been tremendously impressed by how efficient it all is.

But hey, an hour’s worth of time is a small price to pay to be vaccinated against covid.

 

Just a note that some people locally here have waited 3 hrs (!!!) for an inefficient mass vaccination clinic. 

 

I think the mass vaccination clinic I went to (drive thru) was about 45 minutes, but I didn't consider it an "ordeal" even though it was almost an hour overall because it was so big.  It was very well organized, the National Guard troops directing traffic were all smiley and waving in the rain, they even had masked volunteers going from car to car giving out packaged snacks, bottled water, and little clip-on bottles of Purell.

On a somber note we learned 2 weeks ago the mom of one of my college friends died last week from Covid.  She had been diagnosed the previous week, was staying with one of her daughters.  A week into it, her vitals took a dive, they took her to the ER.  On a ventilator immediately, kept deteriorating despite all treatment available.  Previously healthy older woman, living in her own home, taking care of grandkids on a regular basis, driving herself.

 

On a lighter note, here's Dolly Parton getting her vaccine.  Dammit, that woman is just not fair - she's 75.  SEVENTY FIVE!  Look at her!  And she's still got the voice!

 

 

 

Parton, 75, documented the moment in a video posted to social media in which she encouraged eligible viewers to get the shot and broke into a modified rendition of "Jolene" to that effect:

My parents (81 and 76) got their second Pfizer shots yesterday.  I called my mom last night, as I do most nights, and they did not answer.  Called again, called their cell ... no answer.  I was just about to hop in the car and go to their house to make sure they were alright.  Then my dad called and said they were already in bed.  Felt a little under the weather and very tired.  I told them that Lil Gug and I would stop and see them this afternoon.  Just got a text from my dad telling me that they were not home ... they are at the casino, LOL.  So I guess I can safely assume they woke up feeling better!!

 

Lil Gug got the J&J yesterday and felt fine.  He's still sleeping and I'm not gonna wake him up.  We'll see how he's feeling when he wakes up, but last night he was 100% and said his arm didn't even hurt.  Fingers crossed he wakes up feeling just as good.

 

EDIT:  He woke up feeling fine. Arm is just a little sore, but that's it.  Phew!  Here's to hoping everyone can have the same experience!

Both parents have gotten both Moderna shots, Mom felt fluish a week out from the 2nd one and got a rash on an arm, feels better now though.

One of my wife's staff called in off.  Her husband (late 40's or early 50s) is in emergency room after shot due to liver and kidney damage.

I checked and yes this reported possible side effect of vaccine.

We got our first shot at CVS (pfizer). Easy, showed up early. No problem, no line. Shot done w/in 5 minutes after entrance. Appt was easy to set up online. I don't hear too many problems w/ pfizer's 2nd shot (have ours in a week and a half). My SIL got her 2nd Moderna on Monday, she's still feeling the effects. She went to the ER last night, 104 temp and it wouldn't drop w/ OTC meds. She became dehydrated and needed two bags of IV fluids. I only hear of these side effects w/ Moderna. Anyone else have issues that took Moderna's 2nd shot? She's resting today, relatively fine. She's vaccinated. I hear you need to drink a lot of fluids. My wife just bought some liquid IV packets for us to be ready.

Don’t give him TOO much credit. I think he was just trying to win points in the child-of-the-year poll he starts when that pops up in December.  

 

Happy for the good news, Gugny. I know my 93 year old mom had a great sense of relief after that second shot.

2nd Pfizer shot has kicked the crap out of me so far. Got it yesterday evening, no side effects before going to bed, but barely slept and now dealing with headache, chills and extreme fatigue.

This is hell, worse than any cold or flu I've ever gotten. Jealous of anyone that only had to deal with mild side effects! Including my father who got his 2nd a few days before me. How did you do it?
