So you agree that you’re either an idiot or that you’re saying Trump released 5,000 prisoners is inaccurate?

Check.

Oh I agree you’re an idiot, Trump released those prisoners and killed your girl Ashli - the American terrorist.

It’s more simple than that.

The chaos ensued because Americans put a guy in office the Taliban knew.  They knew he was weak, foolish and simple long before he became an old fool.

Now, he starts sending them money, it would seem.

Your man is bad.

Who surrendered to the Taliban?

Released 5,000 Taliban prisoners?

Where was he holding the prisoners he released?  One of his Russian hotels?  And how did he kill Ashli?  What gun did he use?  And she’s not my girl nor a terrorist. She’s worm food.

Full control of the country?  Please explain. And again you and @BillStime saying Trump released 5,000 is inaccurate at least and a lie at best.  These were not his prisoners to release.  Am I playing semantics?  No words have meaning and saying Trump released 5,000 prisoners is not what happened.

Fact-check: Did Trump free 5,000 Taliban prisoners during his term?

Mitt Romney: The Trump administration worked to free 5,000 Taliban prisoners.

PolitiFact's ruling: True

By August 2020, news reports said that the Afghan government, which was not a signatory in the Taliban-U.S. deal, had released 4,600 Taliban prisoners after pressure from the Trump administration. Afghan officials considered the release of 400 other prisoners problematic because they had committed major crimes, Voice of America reported.

VERIFY
Yes, the Trump administration in 2020 agreed to the release of 5,000 Taliban prisoners

This is true.

Yes, as part of a deal made with the Taliban in 2020, the Trump administration agreed to the release of up to 5,000 Taliban prisoners in exchange for the release of up to 1,000 prisoners “of the other side.”

By full control of Afghanistan is to have all bases manned with full air support and enough troops until evacuation was complete. Relying on the Afghan military without US logistic and air support was a disaster. Yes I do blame Biden not Trump for the failed evacuation.

I thought I read yesterday that the present Taliban leader was one of those prisoners.

• The U.S. envoy chosen by President Donald Trump, Zalmay Khalilzad, has publicly confirmed that he requested and secured the release of senior Taliban official Abdul Ghani Baradar from prison in Pakistan ahead of negotiations to end the war in Afghanistan.

Yup.  And 2 of the prisoners Obama released for Bergdahl are leaders.

The 5,000 is a distraction.  The Taliban had far greater numbers that this, importing many people from around the ME/Pakistan.  It still doesn't excuse Joey's horrible withdrawal.

I’ll play semantics all day and I’ll be right. Trump did not release or even authorize the release of those prisoners as he had no jurisdiction over them.

Did Trump pressure the Afghan gov to release at least 4600 prisoners in 2020 and Pakistan to release a Taliban leader in 2018, just a yes or no

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Newsweek editor-at-large Naveed Jamali made it clear: just because the Taliban is not allowing private charter planes to evacuate American citizens and Afghan allies doesn’t mean that the Taliban is trying to keep American citizens and Afghan allies from leaving Afghanistan. Those people trapped on the tarmac for six days are not hostages; nobody is being denied exit from Afghanistan.

Well, if you're *on* the airplane in question... not so much

We’ll if that isn’t twisting words, I don’t know what is.

BYRON YORK: TWO AWKWARD QUESTIONS ABOUT AFGHAN REFUGEES:

Biden administration officials are proud of their effort to airlift about 118,000 Afghans, plus somewhere between 5,000 and 6,000 U.S. citizens, from the Kabul airport

in the final days of the president’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

But still unanswered are two key questions. One, who did we leave behind? And two, who did we bring out?

The administration would prefer you did not ask those questions.”
