The real difference we saw last night between these two teams

There's a lot of take aways and holes sure about decisions and players and strategy.

But I think what the biggest difference at a high level is time.

Reid has had 7-8 years to build that roster around mahomes.

He was trotting out Alex Smith for like 3 of them and when mahomes was put in the pieces were there.

We have had 3-4 and pretty much started from ground zero when Allen got put in.

Although there are lots of things to pick apart, that to me, is the biggest difference.

KC has gamebreakers playing for peanuts because of it. They have done an excellent job with talent.

Hopefully we can continue and do our part to improve our roster and keep building.

We saw a lot of growth, and we will need to continue to get that from our coaches and players.

But we have a bright future.

KC is about 19 million over the cap for next year so they are going to have to do some maneuvering. Going to probably cost them a few nice role players but other than that they can massage the cap to make due.

KC is one of those teams that drafts physical talent (especially speed) and figures it can be coached up if the foundation is in place. That’s where the Bills are at now — the foundation is in place. This draft is one where I expect them to target speed on both sides of the ball.

Knox singletary ford edmunds oliver all busts.

Still early but moss and epenesa will probably be average players at best.

It's killing us.

I wouldnt say that are bust, they are just average or playing out of position especially Edmunds and Oliver

The difference is one team played to stop the opposing offense while the other team played to slow it down. Congrats to our  defense for eliminating the big play and forcing them to punt once. Lol

While still giving up a number of big plays

And I would say this roster was built with quantity rather than excellence in mind.  They need to get a LOT of good players and they have done quite a bit with them.  Remember what this lineup looked like two years ago?  The OL is a good example.  It has played well, but it was built largely with castoffs and backups...but solid enough to fill the huge holes we had.  The exception to this philosophy are Diggs and Allen....and they will need more players like this but it is, yes, a process.

Think how much better this team would be if just Edmunds and Oliver were the elite, game breaking talents they were supposed to be!   And worth the considerable assets we dumped into them!

We have misses all over the place (like all NFL teams) but yes, we need to hit on some draft picks.

And our picks next year will be quite low!

It shouldn't matter, though, if we get it right.

I think Beane will impress more with a trade or 2 and free agency signings.

we built our roster at times the same way we coached last night, timid.

trading for diggs was a bit of that, but worked out great (trading for a guy instead of drafting one, that is).  trading up to get allen was super aggressive, and an awesome move.  Trading out of the mahomes pick to get a late 1st round CB, well that one was a little bit un aggressive.

the edmunds pick baffles me.  a couple guys taken later are better MLBs, i think they just fell in love w the potential.

passing on metcalf but making moves for ford and knox strikes me as similar to not going for it on 4th down at the end of the half last night, but going for it from mid field on 4th and 1.  like, it was an aggressive move to get the OL who might be better than he looked in college, vs the size weight speed freak WR.  like ya i guess the % chance of a bust WR is slightly higher than OL, but the impact of ford if he got much better would have been what, a solid guard vs an injured below average guard?  the upside of a maniac like metcalf is what we see in seattle, a game breaker.

the other issue, perhaps above all, is we seem to have drafted and signed FAs to fit a rather ridged scheme, especially on D.  instead of getting top talents and adjusting, we get what we get and try to fit them in 1996s latest and greatest D!

A large difference is McD came from the school of Reid when Reid played it safe, you know all those years in Philly where he won nothing.

Now Reid just throws caution to the wind and takes chance after chance. McD seems to want to be safe over and over, which is ok if you want to be a good not great team.

He's going to have to trust the players he put on the field and let them go get it or get blown out trying. I'd rather see them lose by 30 than watch a replay of last night's "play it safe" championship game.

Beane has honestly been pretty average in the draft.....but he hit on Allen and that makes all the difference.... the reason he got some awards for executive of the year and why they were in the championship game..... Allen just isn’t Mahomes and that’s ok because nobody is.

Its easy to forget Beane is a young guy too. He'll learn and move on. Learn to make some better pics more tailored for our coaching philosophy, and likely make some changes with scouting to make sure we're making the most of our draft decisions. Young qb, coach, and gm, well be fine as long as they all continue to grow

I think we all knew we were a fairly one-dimensional team heading into yesterday.

All year, we won by passing the ball - not by running, or with a strong defense.  There were exceptions on the latter, particularly the Ravens game. But in general, that's who we were and are.

I don't think you can win a Lombardi without being a more complete team.  The blueprint for a good defensive team against us is fairly simple - limit Diggs, make them run, and you can beat them.

Everyone knows what we need to shore up to get further, and I'm sure Beane will do just that.

True. Amazing to think that they won - and were basically unstoppable - last night with Le'veon Bell (consensus best RB in football just 3 years ago) and Sammy Watkins (supposedly their #1 WR when they got him) never seeing the field.

I agree that something is missing when it comes to some positions on the field, no doubt there’s a need to upgrade or supplement.

We’ve objectively been one of the top 3 drafting teams in the league since McBeane got here. You can’t miss on as many picks as you’re asserting and that be true.

You’re only good or bad by comparison and the Bills have consistently been one of the best drafting teams in the NFL under this regime.

They’re a top 5 team in the league, with their core coming from the draft, their drafting is not killing them.

Not true, must be compared to peers and this regime has objectively drafted better than 29-30 other teams.

Actually someone maybe it was the athletic wrote an article and among the final playoff teams the bills had the least players coming from drafts.

That doesn't mean they draft bad, but Oliver and Edmunds have not been difference makers enough
