Is any part of Singletary's game elite? [Edited: title from merged thread]

Using a third round pick on a RB is like using a first round pick on a WR.  It ain’t that hard.  To whiff twice in a row on those picks is ....concerning.

Moss was somewhat of a short yardage, inside bruiser, but at best he projects as a compliment to an explosive feature back.

Singletary’s game looks much worse when we don’t have that true inside the tackle back that runs with power. Moss made some improvement over the course of the year and he was a big loss when he went down because we did not have another rb that was trusted to fill that role. Yeldon is is better than Singletary because he catches the ball better but he is still more of a finesse back. Williams could be a hammer but the coaches did not trust the rookie in the playoffs so our offense was severely handicapped. I mean, teams had no respect for our running game whatsoever after the Indy game. Singletary can pop a few runs here and there but defenses will take that and focus on stopping our passing game which they did. Whereas KC has the ability to hand the ball off to their rbs if we just play pure coverage.

in sum, we need better play from our rbs next year and part of that might be just dressing 3 viable rbs instead of having this fascination with special teams players taking up game day roster spots.

As a rookie (and in college), Singletary's elusiveness was elite. This year, we didn't really see any of that.

He's always struggled in terms of pass protection and catching the ball; the drop yesterday wasn't surprising. He's did the same in college and the same as a rookie. But he's always been really tough to get on the ground once he gets the ball in his hands and that didn't seem to be the case this year at all.

Terrible use of a first rounder.

Completely disagree. What is the difference between us and a team like the Chiefs?  Speed at every level. A guy like ettienne would provide speed in the run game as well as a pass catcher.

End of the 1st round is not that different in value from the 2nd round. As usual there are going to be less than 30 players with 1st round grades, and this year more than ever it is going to be difficult to draft due to limited college games plus no combine or private visits. I am usually completely against the idea of the Bills drafting a RB early but it is the last piece our offense needs and it's an easy position to scout.

If they believe they are missing 1 or 2 pieces it's a good thing to pull the trigger whenever the guy you want comes along. If its an over draft a trade whatever. You get your guy.
