There's no doubt it's a great testament to Josh that he worked hard to correct flaws, but all the people who say he totally sucked his first two years and was innately innacurate ignore the people he was playing with and the overall situation. Epecially in the first year he was running around behind a bad OL throwing to crappy receivers who couldn't get open or make even semi-difficult catches (and apparantly were running routes incorrectly as well) - just trying to make something happen [how many times I had to hear people on this board wail when a throw 1 ft off center was dropped by a Bills receiver "Innacurate!", and then you watch any other NFL game and even just just marginally competent receivers all over the league are routinely catching those balls and worse] 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And he may have been our most consistent receiver that year! Haha! There were 19 different running backs and receivers that caught a pass in 2018 for the Bills. Of those 19: 1. Isaiah McKenzie is still with the team 2. Logan Thomas is a starter with Washington (had 72 receptions) 3. 12 are no longer even playing in the league just 3 years later 4. It was also the lame-duck year for the offensive assistants hired while Russ Brandon held the purse strings, and they weren't top quality. Allen's first "QB coach", David Culley, hadn't actually coached QBs except for one season at a small time collegiate program three decades before. Beane, McDermott, and Daboll sent the old offensive assistants packing after the season and brought in an entirely new __ and better __ group for 2019, including Ken Dorsey who had recent experience developing a young QB (Cam Newton). You not only see how better coaching has helped Allen, but all the offensive position groups. The Bills are getting so much better production from their offensive rookies __ Moss and Davis are the most visible __ than they have done in recent memory, and that's even despite not having a traditional training camp with preseason games. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
