I wonder if they gave the Cheaters the same grade, considering they took one a round earlier?

Pats also received F’s. I remember one publication just had a blanket rule that kickers can’t be taken before the 7th round or something ridiculous like that.

Good.  At least there was consistency.  But a dumb take all the same.

could of been? I couldn't remember that far back too clearly so I did a quick search. all I really remember was how he was never good on grass even before making an attempt on the big stage. so I took that for granted as well as nerves from the pressure the kick had on his psyche as well?

Life Is a Snap for This Pro - BY MIKE DOWNEY JAN. 30, 1993 12 AM PT - LA TIMES

Lingner never even started for his college team until his senior year. Now he’s a 10-year pro. He broke in with Kansas City and filled in frequently for the injured Bob Rush at center. Then the Chiefs waived him. Then New England hired him for one game and never used him. And then Buffalo signed him, used him as a snapper and special teams player for 12 games . . . and waived him at their next camp. The glamorous life of a football star.

He made it back to the Bills. Snapped in 1990 with swollen, hyper-extended fingers. Made it to the Super Bowl. Made an accurate snap on Norwood’s game-deciding kick, only to see the ball drift wide of the upright. Returned the next season, snapping in Buffalo’s snow and wind.

“Has proven he is nearly flawless,” reads his bio.

so it would of been on Frank then?

I still get a sick feeling thinking back on that kick but hold a real confidence in Bass going forward. obviously we haven't seen Bass in that situation yet but he seems to have the "it" factor and proving to be a great asset to the team.

I can't say for sure whether it was all Frank so I included both.  But the laces should have been out (Dan!).

Sebastian Janikowski, the Polish Pounder, uses that magazine as toilet paper.

Found it! CBS sports. After saying it was a bad pick they comment that he’s one of the best in the class and admit we don’t have many roster spots available. What?! So using a sixth round pick at a position of need is a bad move?

Using a late round pick, which typically has a low chance of making the roster anyway, on an incredibly important position is a bad move?  Just dumb.

And I remember the Bills getting an “F” grade in a few publications because they took a kicker (even though it was clearly one of our biggest needs) as early as they did.

F for Fantastic.👍

Bass very well could/can be the Scotty Norwood that wont miss in crucial game moments. not to knock Scotty as it shouldn't of come down to that kick, 49 yards on grass with the pressure on him big time but a wide right miss that lost the first of four sb appearances.

no, I believe in that situation, Bass makes that kick and the bills win the first of four rather then lose because the kicker could not kick well on grass, especially when the game was on the line.

another gem of a pick from the Beane master, for sure.

Scottie Norwood didn’t lose that game; he just didn’t win it.

Agree wholeheartedly about Bass, though. He’s got ice in his veins.

In preseason, they should be testing out the disaster kicker!

I think Haack has thrown a TD ...shades of Great 8 Brian Moorman ;)

On December 1, 2019, Haack was the centerpiece of a trick play in which he completed a one-yard touchdown pass to kicker Jason Sanders in the end zone during the 37–31 win, marking the NFL's first touchdown pass to a kicker since October 16, 1977.[21][22] Overall, Haack had 69 punts for 3,105 net yards for a 45.00-yard average in the 2019 season.[23]

People who don't like Beane point to his misses, but he's had some great hits.   Allen, Diggs, Bass, Trubisky come to mind.   After watching them on Friday, I think teams will be sorry they let Rousseau fall, and Spencer Brown will prove to be a steal in the third.

Someone commented on Bass having a solid long-snapper and holder.   The Matt Haack acquisition was an outstanding move to shore up the place-kicking and punting game.  Like a lot of people, I wanted Bojo gone before last season - a great team just can't have an inconsistent punter or a sloppy holder, and Bojo was both.  Haack seems to be the opposite.   This season, Farwell is going to do some advanced play design, now that he has a quality directional punter.  Last season, Haack was 24th in gross and 20th in net punting.    He was four yards shorter in net than Bojo, but he was 6th in punts inside the 20, and Bojo was 25th.  Haack had two touchbacks, Bojo had seven.

Beane makes the sneaky, unexpected moves that make the team better.

Agree.  Bojo may have had the stronger leg but with the Bills offense I expect a lot more punts inside the 20 than punts from our own EZ.

It's going to be a great statistical move in most situations.

Haangin' Haack!

I can’t be the only one who feels this nickname should be reserved for porn movies, right?

I guess you have never seen one of his stag films.

I heard the nickname the first time regarding his drinking where he would be pounding down beers.

Bojo's nickname should have been "cosa salvaje" since we never knew what we were going to get.
