Pete Posted January 8, 2021 Share Posted January 8, 2021 I just watched this this morning. Monterey was coming out party for Janis Joplin and Jimi. The Who knew about Jimi, and insisted they went first, because they didn’t want to follow Jimi. The Who rocked, Townsend smashed his guitar, Moon destroyed his drum kit....then Jimi blew the world away with his performance, he lit his guitar on fire, and took Monterey festival to a higher level.
