I can respect conservatism, but my issue comes when progress could be made, and they get scared.  Maybe the old way isn't better, and you ain't going to know until you try.  This country DOES need to take baby steps.  In fact, the conservatives sometimes want to move backwards.

Trumpers are not conservatives, they are radicals.  They seek to “conserve” an imagined past, not dissimilar to the National Socialists who, while espousing conservativism, were entirely radical in their destruction of longstanding institutions in the name of restoring some completely made-up fallen order.  Just like Jihadists don’t really believe in God (if they did, they wouldn’t have to do His violent work for him), Trumpers are not conservatives, they aren’t patriots, and they sure as hell don’t love this country - they feel like it has robbed them of what they had coming to them.

You're goading a hateful person, so your aware of that what you're doing is likely to get a reaction.  As usual, both people are wrong in ways

I have free time.

Well done.  Trump is the same way.  Somehow there ancestors were the ones who did everything and set all the rules, now it's their duty to see it through.  The 'earned' rights and privileges thru birth, because they happen to have been spit out of their mom's vag there.

Trump is a populist.

Where do you get Jihadist's don't believe in God?  Of course they do.  What they're doing is literally for God.

I'm with you on the Jihad thing.  I didn't get it at all.

I don't agree with the title.  I mean if he was smart he would have done exactly what he did, and gtfo of there.  I got news for these jokers next time, they better ALL BE ready to play, because they took out a lot of officers.  Next time it will be guns drawn, and no questions asked.  They are playing a very, very serious game.

Trump may have a cult following but he's simply a populist.  70M + people voted for him.

Do you think he feels they're his army?

I don't know what he thinks nor do I care but categorizing 70M + people as cultists is not a good idea for unity.

Well, I'm wondering if we're actually in a civil war??  That's the only why I care.  As far as cult vs populist, well if he can feed them coup-laid, and they're chuggin it, then they are cultists.  All of a sudden I'm kinda concerned about what's really happening.  this may not have been a one n done thing

When you go to work and look at your colleagues realizing that they voted for a different party, do you want to get revenge or do you just want to get a beer and move on with your life?

All this division is exacerbated by media and technology.

Before Trump I wouldn't have even known hardly ANYONES political affiliation.  Now there's certainly a detectable amount of tension.  and yes, I believe it's because social media not only exacerbates it, but I have a more open view into their personal lives.  My work colleagues are like family too

They aren't interested in unity.

Find one....one so called liberal here to first of all, define that, and second challenge them to say the following:

"I 100% want Biden to reach across the aisle and work with the GOP and if he refuses and shows zero good faith (eliminates the filibuster, no clear compromise shown) I'll call it out."

You won't get one person on the left to say that out loud.

Not.  One.

There are some people I just refuse to talk to, not because they have a political affiliation but because they won't drop it and I'm a relatively level headed guy. Most people just want to get laid and watch Netflix and raise their families but social media and media in general has warped our minds.

Yeah, it's like people are consumed by it.  i must have been VERY naive when Obama was president.  Sure, I'd argue with my dad, cuz he's Korean war vet repub, but for the most part I had no idea people hated Obama until Trump arrived.  I'm old enough to remember when a few games of pong was enough.  Atari started to get my attention but we still played mad football and screwed around and stuff.  Now electronics is EVERYTHING

I'll do that.  I'm older so I remember Tip O'Neill and compromise.  The problem is that's not the culture in Washington.  I'm not sure it has a ton to do with individual citizens that are democrats

Why should liberals say that?

In the past, I honestly felt that way.  But Mitch McConnell has shifted my entire political belief system.  Over the last 4 years Trump and McConnell and Republicans used every twisted power they could to get absolutely everything they could do in their power.

The hypocrisy of holding the Supreme Court nomination after Scalia died for 10+ months and rushing the nomination of ACB after RBG died is just, frankly, absolutely disgusting.

I would like the Democrats to get rid of the filibuster and pack the courts.  When one party controls the House, the Senate, AND the Presidency, you have a mandate.

Donald Trump and the Republicans kinda fumbled around when they had all 3 of those, but they passed a disastrous tax reform and tried to overturn Obamacare, but luckily didn't because of John McCain.

Donald Trump is the most notable culprit when it comes to our country's divisive rhetoric for a long time now... and it goes all the way back to him propagating the conspiracy theory of birthirism with Obama.

But...

hey....

that's your President, right?

Like eliminate the filibuster on lower court justices?

Like eliminate the filibuster completely to ram thru GOP Bills.

Like use every shady way possible (Cornhusker Kickback, etc) to ram thru a health care bill that was sold as THE fix now its trash we need full universal care.

Outside of judges you don't like, in what ways did the GOP seek more power in DC?

More importantly, what exactly did they push that was as drastic and divisive a reform as the ACA?  They cut your taxes?

Lets be honest.  As far as nuke moves go they're both pretty equal.

C'mon man you know he doesn't condone that.  I'm mad at Trump supporters too, but they weren't the enablers.  It was the Republican Congress that created the Trump monster.  Not the average person who wanted to believe in this guy

That's some dirty ass stuff then, but I'd rather hear it from him.  The cops are putting their lives and their families future on the line for us.  That's what I don't get about the coup-laiders.  Somehow they are sooooo sure about fraud and the election is soooo important that if a few hundred or thousand brave young American soldiers and officers die it's worth it. I can't even wrap my head around that

I read that like you were talking about DeAndre Hopkins

The Repubs really didn't reach across the isle, but I hope we all hope it happens again.  I'm super pissed at Congressional Repubs but there's still work to be done.  The high end partisan politics has to stop
