The had one of the best 6 or 7 year stretches of drafting in recent NFL history. The reason they went from a team that even with Tom Brady at his absolute peak had only made 2 Superbowls in 9 years (and lost both) to a team that suddenly went to 4 out of 5 in the middle of this past decade (winning 3) is because of those drafts. Nobody doubts that Tom Brady was the best and most important player on those teams.... but he had an excellent roster around him. They have, however, really fallen off drafting the last 4 years and the remanence of those Superbowl teams - McCourty, Hightower, Edelman, Chung etc is old. The only place they have rebuilt well is up front where I still think Thuney and Mason are either the 1st or 2nd best guard combo in the NFL, they have a good left tackle and a good center.
