Erosion was due to illegal cheap shot.

Players who do this should be mandated to have part of their pension go to that player.

Man, that still pisses me off. Hauschka really had a nice career and was very good for the Bills for awhile. I am glad Beane made the call when he did - I was skeptical at the time but he was clearly done being able to kick at the level necessary

It was overdue....sadly, whatever effects he suffered after that cheapshot he took in the Jets game never were going to get corrected and it sapped him of his leg strength. He held on by a thread last year, forcing McDermott to have to punt from inside the opponent 40 yard line for than any other team in the NFL, but there was no way we could put ourselves at that big of a disadvantage this year before the ball was kicked off even.  It's why Bass would have had to be God awful to have lost the job and why I kind of snickered to myself that Hauschka was seen as the incumbent.  In all honesty, Haushcka never really even had a shot this year at retaining the job here, not with his leg strength gone.

His attempt at a career resurrection in Jacksonville was very say...missed a 24 yarder and was WAY short on a 49 yarder that barely made it to the front of the endzone.

Hmmmm...don’t think that would work but for these defenseless players, something does need to be done for career ending injuries (which that clearly was). Personally, I’d hit the offenders pocket book harder via long suspensions to lower the possibility of it happening with any frequency.

I don’t remember the details, but wasn’t an NHL player suspended until the injured player was able to return to the game after a horribly egregious dirty play? It may have even been in court rather than the league. Details are fuzzy. I kinda liked that approach, though not terribly practical here.

Thanks for all you did for us, sir. Little tip.......stay in shape for a few more weeks in case some kicker gets hurt. You just never know!

Thought we were lucky to get him when we did, and until the cheap shot, I wouldn't have even considered another kicker.

Without that, I believe he would still have his career now - although with the changing of various kickoff rules, I don't think he could have lasted as long as some have.

Simply put, even with Haus at his best, we are getting to the point where guys need a 'bigger' leg, not only for long FGs, but also for the extra yards expected on kickoffs.

Regardless, be safe, be happy, and be healthy - and thanks!

Enjoy ....   life gave you great talent and opportunity.  You “cashed” in (house money).   That’s on you ... it ain’t easy.   Screw the cheap shot.  I’m glad you’re still in really good shape for a life well lived..
