Josh Allen the most blitzed QB in the NFL

Looks like hes the most blitzed but times pressured per drop back hes 21st.  Lots of blitzes, not a lot of pressure from blitzing if I'm interpreting that correctly.

As opposed to Wentz who is second most blitzed, most hits, most pressures, 6th in pressure percentage.

Interestingly enough, upcoming opponent Nick Mullens has faced the most pressures per drop back.

I’m not a Wentz guy but if there are any metrics on WRs getting off the line of scrimmage the Eagles easily have to be the worst in the league.

But even when they do Wentz doesn't throw it to them.

I think the only way a defense can dominate a QB like Allen or a Brady or a Manning is if you can apply pressure with simply your front four. In order to do that though you need elite players at pretty much every position though.. Very hard to do.. And costs lots of $$$$$$$$$.

Agreed. I don't think blitzing a lot is the way to go against any top QB. It can work ocassionally as a specific plan but more often than not they will just be too good at getting to their hots.

One thing that would elevate this offense to the next level is an elite pass catching rb who can take any screen pass to the house

countering these blitzes with 30-40yard screens would be ideal

Brilliant suggestion! Why didn’t we think of this? We need more sure fire 30-40 yard screens! THATs the ticket!

🤦‍♂️

Top of list is all young qbs except for Flacco and Newton.

Most of bottom of list all veterans (Rivers, Brees, Smith, Brady) and Mahomes is a special case but why don't people blitz Trubisky and Minshew?

You don't blitz Trubisky because it means playing man on the backend and he really struggles reading zone coverages. What you will see teams do a lot against Trubisky is show blitz then drop would be blitzers out into shallow zones. He struggled with that in college and he struggles with it in the NFL. He is good for a few picks a season in exactly that manner.

Haven't really studied Minshew in enough depth to know why teams don't blitz him.

Between the blitzing and Allen's propensity to hold on to the ball, there is a lot of pressure on the Bills' offensive line when it comes to pass blocking.  I hope he sends them all some very nice Christmas gifts.  Fortunately, Allen is both very tough and mobile.

What I really like about Allen is he is becoming a QB with no glaring weaknesses.  He's good versus zone defense, he's good versus man defense.  He evades pressure.  He can run, both designed runs and scrambles.  He can pas short and he can pass long.  That lack of weaknesses makes it very hard for opposing defensive coordinators to scheme against him.

The top 4 in blitz percentage are all QBs in the AFC East.  How crazy is that?  "Our opponent this week is in the AFC East.  That means we'll be blitzing a lot."

I'm assuming all of this is also affected by your schedule. Sometimes you face blitz happy schemes. Sometimes not. For instance, if you face Gregg Williams you pretty much know he'll be blitzing all game long regardless of who he is facing.

Yeah, schedule is going to be a factor in that, but it still seems unusual.

Yeah, but the sample size is too small to give real credit to Tua and Flacco. That puts Allen below only Newton as best in the league against the blitz.

I notice that Allen is ninth best in bad-throw percentage. As someone here said, he's top ten or top eleven in pretty much every category you can think of, including, alas, percentage of passes dropped by his receivers. 😒
