Shouldn’t Diggs be in the MVP race?

When we traded for Diggs, he was a good player who suddenly became Jerry Rice.  It seemed like Bills fans began completely overrating him. But the guy has been nothing short of awesome. Averaging 15 yards/ game more than any season in his career.  Our passing offense has gone from 201 yards (7th worst) to  278 yards/ game (4th best). Obviously, Allen deserves a ton of credit but basically the only major difference is Diggs. Additionally, Beasley is having a career season.

I know only QBs can win now but the impact of Diggs on this offense seems to be MVP caliber.  He also has been a great teammate and seems to be genuinely happy to be a Bill.

side note, is this trade the most win-win in nfl history? We get a stud and Minnesota gets a stud replacement.  We should do business again with them.

According to the flashiness required, and the focus on the QB's getting the ball to these WR's, he will not be considered. Even in the year Moss broke the single season record for receiving TD's he wasn't going to edge out Brady. He is definitely a core member of what this team is doing, but he's not going to get those kind of accolades.

Should Kelce?

What are you talking about? Kelce was on the team when Mahomes was drafted. Mahomes passed for  318 yards/ game his first year as a starter.  Allen went from 178 and 193 his first 2 years to 278 in his 3rd year as a starter. After we acquired Diggs, which is the point of the thread.

what a completely invalid example

I'll join this campaign, if you join my "Fitz for Hall of Fame" campaign. Both should happen, but probably wont.

I know it won’t but if the situation was reversed, and Allen joined Minnesota and Diggs had a career year, Allen would be a MVP.

why even if have the reward if only one position can get it?

Wide Receivers never get serious consideration.

I don't think Jerry Rice ever received the NFL MVP either.

 Yeah he certainly deserved consideration.

You don’t think Diggs should win the mvp do you?  We all know Fitz shouldn’t be in the HoF.  He’s the king of starting strong and finishing poorly.  His arm gets worse and worse as the season goes on. He’s never even played in a playoff game.  Winning game are a QBs responsibility.  He’s always been on bad teams, which isn’t his fault.....but it is.  Good teams don’t want him to be their starting QB which is a great measuring stick for making the HoF.  He’s one of the best bridge QBs ever and an easy to love competitor.  But he shouldn’t even be on a HoF ballot

Different positions have different values. So when talking about the Most Valuable Player, it's always going to start with the most valuable position.

It's easy to give it to other positions when talking about just one game (Super Bowl MVP for example), but when you are looking at an entire season, it's going to default to the main position.

No...MVP is always going to a QB unless there is a performance of epic proportions from another position. Diggs doesn't have enough TDs to be considered.

Tds is a good point.  But there is no question the monumental impact Diggs had on this offense.

think about when the Pats got Moss. It was steroids for Brady.  They need a separate award then because the impact Diggs has had our offense is a big of any player this year.

Other positions can get it, just nearly impossible for a WR to get it because their productivity is a direct result of the QB, which you can agree, has a MUCH greater impact on each and every game.

I think Diggs should be discussed given what he has brought to this team.

And I wont have the Fit debate with you here. This isnt the thread for it, or for me to point out it is the Hall of FAME, not Hall of Stats or Hall of Wins. It's just a marketing tool for the NFL.

But I'm happy to discuss it further here:

If I was a player, I’d kinda hate qbs haha. Average ones gets insane money and they are the only ones who can win MVP.

like clearly, Derrick Henry is the MVP of the Titans with Ryan Average but Tannehill makes like $15 million more than him.  It’s crazy.
