So What are your predictions for Duke vs. Jets

Why do you guys root for this guy to fail. Isn't the point of being a fan to hope every player succeeds. Would it be so horrible if they could turn him into a smaller TE?  Besides Knox could be easily be lumped in to the Reilly / Lewis argument.  Enjoy rooting for him to fail so you guys can be right.

Having a proper understanding of reality isn’t rooting for someone to fail. Trust me, i wasn’t rooting for Duke to suck in the playoff game.

I made my prediction, as per the OP, and I’m confident It’ll be pretty accurate because I have a proper understanding of reality. I would love to be proven wrong and have Duke go off for 8 catches, 135 yards and a score or two, but the chances of that happening are in the 1 digit percentile.

I think the love for Duke stems from the fact the Bills were trotting Zay Jones out as a #1 for so long. The guy caught a million passes in college, but rarely came away with the 50/50 balls and seemed to have a knack for not catching balls that hit him in the hands. Duke produced well early on with a limited snap count, while making some tough catches we Bills fans have been accustomed to seeing dropped. Foster is another Bill that had a good looking career trajectory early on. Waiting for Zay to develop for years with a 36% catch rate while giving him 100 targets a season it is easy to like guys like Duke and Foster who caught over 60% of their targets.

With only Kroft at TE, the running game is not likely to be effective, again.  It will be up to the passing game to win.  The offense really misses John Brown.  What's much worse, though, is that Josh Allen seems to have forgotten all the good things he learned in the offseason about footwork.  The past two games, he's been jumpy, off-balance, throwing off the wrong foot,  and not even pointing his feet in the right direction.  If he can fix his footwork issues, I think the Bills will be fine.  If not, this season could crash and burn.

You're forgetting Gilliam.  The Bills apparently think more of Gilliam than Williams as he has been part of the initial 53 and has played and produced some in the offense.  I'd imagine Williams would be the 3rd TE/6th WR.  will he be active, probably in case a player ahead of him in either position gets hurt.  But will he play much, maybe if they wish to line him up as a TE, but play more of a big TE/WR role??

The hate for Duke in this thread is insane. Just wish the guy to do his best to secure a Bills W.

Insane

i don’t hate Duke. I dislike the subset of posters here who have latched on to him as some sort of savior. I wish Duke well but recognize what he is - a bottom 5 roster player at best.

i mean look the OP is saying now that duke can play tight end? Seriously? What else can Duke do should we throw him in at linebacker as well?

It’s sort of annoying they need to bring up a sixth WR because Brown is out, and neither the KR/ PR or jet sweep specialist Can play WR.

Maybe they need to bring up a 6th WR because Daboll wants to have 6 WR active on game day?

McKensie has caught 12 of 13 targets and they weren't all Jet sweeps

Roberts did not do a good job handling an off-target ball resulting in an INT against Tenn, but he also did a fantastic job making a sideline catch with "toe drag swag"

I predict that the weirdly anti-Duke crowd will latch on to any opportunity to bash him.

Can’t give that crowd much credence, they all think DaRick Rodgers, who never actually made the team is on par with Williams who actually has an NFL career, and a game winning TD reception. That and those guys are all Browns and Pats fans anyway... 😁👍🍺

I’m kinda feeling sorry for you and the other “fans” who have a serious issues here, relax, and openly root for his success, after all it will mean Bills success.

All ya’ll need to  get over your struggling distemper already. Hell I openly root for every player, to include the PS guys. You and your cohort  hate on so many of our players... sad really, it’s game day! Get your head out of your - - - and root for the whole damn team.

😁👍🍺 Go Bills!!!

Crazy how people hold this high bar for Duke who was a rookie playing in like his 5th or 6th game and 1st playoff game....he drips a pass and now he isn't a NFL level WR. Like he didn't have a 100 yard game in what...like his 4th or 5th time being active???? You guys who count a guy out for rookie mistakes are the ones who suck. And don't bring up CFL which is really glorified division 1 football with different rules. He was still a rookie last year and had very few first team reps heading into thos last few weeks of last year.

Duke will play and will catch a TD.  Picture those contested catches we saw all summer from practice.

I tend to picture the contested drops from last year as that is who he is.  A way below average WR that can not get open and has to make contested catches because of that.

Then when he gets an opportunity- he muffs 2 TD catches because DBs are all over him.

Even the terrible DBs on the Jets are not going to be afraid of Duke - he just can not get open in the NFL.  4 years has shown that.  He is also not big enough to play a post-up style and his hands just are not good enough to make enough plays.

I wish him the best, but if Duke is on the field for this offense - something bad is happening because he is legitimately the 8 or 9th best receiving weapon behind the other WRs, TEs, and RBs that are active.
