Titans NOW 20 positive Covid tests and Impacts ] updated 10/3

Message added by Hapless Bills Fan

Please keep discussion in this thread narrowly focused on football and directly football-related issues.

Two Bills Drive no longer finds it appropriate to engage in COVID-19 discussion in our main discussion areas. We are a Buffalo Bills fan community and we exist to serve fans of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL. Please use other communities and venues to discuss heath-related topics including COVID-19.

Information about COVID-19 is available from many globally respected sources including:

Uptodate     |  British Medical Journal Best Practice   |      COVIPENDIUM    |    Our world in Data

The pinned topic: COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic, located on the Off the Wall subforum, is also a resource.   Should these not meet your needs, many other sources of information (of varied accuracy) exist.

Thank you!

If it can be proved through contact tracing that the infection came from outside contact, the Titans should be suspended for two weeks, forced to forfeit the next two games, and the season goes on as scheduled.

This would be a wake up call to all other teams to stay in their “virtual bubble” or cost your team two games.

This is a football board, not a COVID freak out board, hence the discussion on how it affects football related events.

That is why they should play no matter what. What’s a few positive tests here or there?  No big deal.  Play on!  If it spreads, it spreads.

The "fair" thing to do would be to postpone all W4 games and add them to the end of the season, pushing the playoffs back a week.

The fair thing to do would be to have no fans in attendance league wide until all teams could have fans. We saw how the NFL responded to that.

Thats a little ridiculous.  What if someone's family member caught it from school or running errands

I do not think the league should or would start altering schedules now for one or two teams.  Yeah, there are some easy ways now to rework the schedule, but what happens later int the year if there is a positive but no easy way out. Consistency is they way this handle this will be key to keep it fair to all. Tell the Titans they have to play. If they cannot field a roster of players who test negative, they should forfeit. Maybe one irresponsible person should not be able to take down the entire league.

We don’t know if that so called 1 irresponsible person was a player.  They questioned whether it may have been from the return flight - could someone from the flight crew been non symptomatic and touched something or passed through the circulating air.

Could someone at the hotel begin the spread.

You do everything to make it as fair as possible - blame should not be assigned until you determine the reasons it happened.

MLB got through this with the Marlins and some other teams.  Wishful thinking the NFL gets through this and the inevitable next breakout as well

It's a lot easier to make a team eat some games in a 180 game schedule than in the NFL where every game is a huge deal to the standings.

I don’t think you can do this. They aren’t in a bubble. And Nashville is wide open. Player could have easily been infected by the pilot who’s wife went to the mall.

Players are not permitted to interact with those family members. This was talked about quite a but when Tre White was explaining the sacrifices he'd have to make while he was considering opting out.

They aren't flying SouthWest. It is a privately chartered flight. All flight personnel are tested before coming into contact with the team.

If they did cancel they could just give pitt and tenn.a bye week.

Move the steelers ravens game from week 7 to 8 and

Play tenn.and pitt week 7

The league has to treat every team the same for the entire season. Make that kind of move now isn't too hard. But what happens if this occurs again for a different team after the bye weeks are over?

EDITED FOR NON-FOOTBALL CONTENT

This is definitely big news for the league on how they can handle this. I would expect anyone infected is already out for next week no matter what and that’s where the practice squad spots come in. Unless there’s 15+ more positive tests coming I fully expect them to play on and replace the infected with practice squad along with non stop testing of Minnesota and Tennessee. I can’t see any scenarios where games are cancelled outside of 15-20 positive tests on the team.
