Titans NOW 20 positive Covid tests and Impacts ] updated 10/3

Message added by Hapless Bills Fan

Please keep discussion in this thread narrowly focused on football and directly football-related issues.

Two Bills Drive no longer finds it appropriate to engage in COVID-19 discussion in our main discussion areas. We are a Buffalo Bills fan community and we exist to serve fans of the Buffalo Bills and the NFL. Please use other communities and venues to discuss heath-related topics including COVID-19.

Information about COVID-19 is available from many globally respected sources including:

Uptodate     |  British Medical Journal Best Practice   |      COVIPENDIUM    |    Our world in Data

The pinned topic: COVID-19 - Facts and Information Only Topic, located on the Off the Wall subforum, is also a resource.   Should these not meet your needs, many other sources of information (of varied accuracy) exist.

Thank you!

Bills end up getting screwed in all of this. Titans get extra time to prepare for us. Lol. I know I'm being selfish.

I'm not so sure that this gives the Titans any kind of advantage.  The question is what players are, or might become positive for COVID-19 leading up to Buffalo's game.  A few key players out due to COVID could hurt Tennessee tremendously.   More positive COVID tests are certainly possible, if not likely over the next 10 days or so.  There is no way for players to do on field drills or run throughs of plays while in isolation, and if a player doesn't have a full gym at home, he probably can't do much strength or conditioning work.  The coaching staff can game plan all they want, but translating that game plan into the players being able to execute it with a level of comfort and confidence is an entirely different story.

The #Titans had three new player positives and five new personnel positives for COVID-19, sources tell me and

@MikeGarafolo

. Both Titans and Vikings, who hosted them Sunday, will suspend in person club activities starting today.

NOTE: Please stay on topic so this topic doesn't get pulled

This really sucks.  I’m glad the Bills didn’t play these teams over the past 2 weeks but it just takes 1 positive to affect so many players/teams

So the Titans facilities are closed until Saturday at the earliest..

Is there much chance  their game this week can go ahead on the back of at best a days prep?

Doesnt seem likely ..

agreed, seems like a significant disadvantage for them if they can’t hold any in-person practices or walkthroughs.

It’s actually day to day on opening the facility. They were told to prepare as if they could be closed until at least Saturday.

As I mentioned earlier, the Bills played a game a few years ago with no in person practice

It was Albert breer who reported the day to day on re-opening, and prepping for it to be until Saturday

This is what Ive been nervous of - the Bills will finally be a legit contender and the season will be shut down.  If half of a team gets covid and is out for several weeks, what are they gonna do.  Knocking on wood as we speak

As a long suffering Bills fan this is my fear as well (almost an assumption)....

I like to joke that if the Bills get back to the Super Bowl the last thing you would hear would be "Heads" from the coin toss just before the giant asteroid strike ended all life on the planet...seems about right...

The "fair" thing to do would be to postpone all W4 games and add them to the end of the season, pushing the playoffs back a week.

equal, but maybe not equitable -- should they be screwing with 30 teams that don't need to be screwed with?

ProFootballTalk suggested the following .. and it makes a lot of sense ..

"There’s a fairly easy schedule fix, if the game is postponed. The Titans have a Week Seven bye, the Steelers play the Ravens in Week Seven, and the Steelers and Ravens have Week Eight byes. So the NFL could move Steelers-Titans to Week Seven and Steelers-Ravens to Week Eight, with Baltimore’s bye coming in Week Seven."

So Tennessee would get a bye this week which means we would play them off the bye. The three players and the other staff would not be available for the Bills game as these are confirmed cases not potential contact cases.

Fans are watching this closely. TV executives are watching this closely. Team owners, GMs and coaches are watching this closely. But the NFL needs to keep in mind players are really watching this closely. If the league mishandles this, there is a good chance more players will shut themselves down.

I do not think the league should or would start altering schedules now for one or two teams.  Yeah, there are some easy ways now to rework the schedule, but what happens later int the year if there is a positive but no easy way out. Consistency is they way this handle this will be key to keep it fair to all. Tell the Titans they have to play. If they cannot field a roster of players who test negative, they should forfeit. Maybe one irresponsible person should not be able to take down the entire league.

"irresponsible"?????????            That's a leap.                As is "take down the entire league".    Let's slow down and see how things play out - at the moment this is an inconvenience for one team and possible problem for one.    The snowball's at the top of the hill - it hasn't started rolling down and growing yet ...

It can be done.  The NHL and NBA figured it out.  MLB had a couple scares and somehow figured it out.  But quite honestly if you have all these NFL players and staff going home to their families every week, it's not a controlled environment and positive cases will happen.

If they can get back in by Thursday or Friday - I could see them pushing the game back to Monday night - like the Bills game a few years ago.

If it is Saturday- I could see them manipulate the schedule to match up bye weeks later.

Lots of options still early in the season.
