He relies on the horizontal game a lot; checkdowns to the RB. His arm talent is above average but not elite. He throws to open receivers rather than throw receivers open. I think that is what Cosell is talking about. Lawerence has some nice physical skills and traits as well but I don't think it is too early to say that Josh's physical traits and skills are better. Cosell isn't saying Lawerence won't be a better QB than Allen just that he doesn't have as elite a skill set. Josh was not a generational talent coming out of college because he had not yet shown at that point that he had put all those physical traits and skills together. The horrible narrative that players cant get better at the NFL level is hat.. horrible. I'm not going to begin to assume one way or another due to the learning lessons of our own QB.. its foolhardy. Lawrence has a long way to go before he can even be talked-about in the same sentence as Josh. I never liked the idea of representing a player with upside as a single point on a graph. Close the book, drop the mic... whatever. I expected Allen to get better. He has exceeded those expectations. I have been blown away...Allen is driven to improve his game. A nod to Daboll, Dorsey, and the Bills FO for protecting him better,, and finding/surrounding Allen with better receivers that can separate AND catch the ball. folz Posted January 4, 2021 Share Posted January 4, 2021 (edited) Josh Allen ended the season: - 2nd in total TDs for QBs with 46 (only 1 behind Rodgers' 47) - 3rd in yards from scrimmage for QBs with 4,977 (behind only Watson and Mahomes) - 4th in QBR at 107.2 (behind only Rodgers 119.4; Watson 112.1; and Mahomes 108.2) (for passers with more than 67 attempts) - Final completion % was 69.2...good for 6th in the league for passers with more than 121 attempts (eliminating Taysom Hill since he only threw 20% of the passes that Josh did) and he helped Diggs to #1 in receptions and #1 in receiving yards A true dynamic duo! And a true MVP (whether given the title or not)!
