The truth is flyover country is essentially worthless.  The only thing these areas really contribute is oil, and that’s just because it happens to be there.  It’s not like anyone in the area did anything of value.  Even the farming has become increasingly less important as agricultural production has moved towards California.  Rural areas, particularly those in the South, the Rust Belt, and the Midwest are sewers that run on welfare and meth with a few Dollar Generals mixed in.
