Goodbye Buffalo Bills and the NFL

I qualify because it is far past time for folks like me to recognize there are issues with minority folks in general that must finally be addressed.  I have a daughter that is Asian.  Her friend who is also Asian was refused service in a grocery store, was told We can’t serve people like you.  In a town near me there was a peaceful protest for black lives yesterday, and comments to a local news station included talking about “colored” or “ monkeys”.

Treatment if minorities in this country has been horrible for years.  I’m personally embarrassed it’s taken me so long to realize and speak up.

You should be embarrassed, but not for any of the reasons you stated.

Right, again “lived experiences”. Again, your experience is not the rule, it’s the exception. The vast majority of white people are not racist.

I would like to think you’re right.  But I fear not.

Maybe you should enumerate them for me then.

So let me guess, those instances = systemic racism, not individual situations, right?

100% agree with racism needing to go away, and it needs to be called out when it happens. It’s not systemic and I’m not racist because of the color of my skin. Just because I’m born white does not mean I condone racism. They have you bending the knee to social justice ridiculousness and it needs to stop. Content of character, not the color of your skin. Quit seeing people as a monolithic group. Your “lived experience” is not the reality everywhere.

You misunderstand "systemic".   No one is calling you racist cuz you're white.  You're being reminded (taught?) that the system favors you cuz you're white.  No, maybe you don't feel like you're being treated special, but compared to people who aren't like you, the 400 year old systems in this country treat you better.

What I think a lot of people misunderstand is that systemic racism doesn't require everyone to be racist or even a majority. All it needs is a racist/discriminatory/unfair system that perpetuates itself.

That's funny. I only see one set of people being "systemically" cancelled, silenced, and marginalized, and they aren't the people you're talking about.

In fairness, every 200 year old black guy I know had it a lot harder than the new generation of oppressed minorities.

It's not a bad deal, all the victim status, sympathy, and special treatment without having to suffer actual oppression yourself.

Don't I know it. Failure to validate the hallucinations of the woke is inherently racist.

Any doubt this is an election year with all this crap?

Ok so you’re saying we need to completely destroy the system and make it socialist/communist in nature. Gotcha.

Ham -

You seem like a smart guy, and you're part of the way to seeing what you need to see.  You do not condone racism. That's a good and important first step.  That means you're a man or woman of good will, and that's half the battle. I was exactly where you are just two months ago.

I'd encourage to just look and listen. I'm not blaming you, saying your guilty of anything or anything like that. I'm just saying start for something you agree with - that all people should be treated equally and have equal opportunity. That's what you almost certainly believe, and it's part of what you mean when you say you don't condone racism.

Okay, if you keep that frame of mine and look at the history of black people in this country for the past 400, you can see that we never stopped treating black people using the same treatment we used when they were slaves:   Southerners beat, imprisoned, and murdered young black men to keep them subdued.  We still do that in the U.S.  Southerners kept blacks impoverished, with substandard housing, substandard food, and substandard medical care.  We still do that in the U.S.  Southerners kept blacks uneducated.  We still do that in the U.S.  Southerners made blacks live in fear.  We still do that in the U.S.

The point is, it IS systemic.  You and I don't even mean to do it to black people, but our culture does. It's a bad habit that we learned over hundreds of years, and we've only barely begun to change our habits.

Unless and you and I are actively working to change, you and I are part of the problem.

Justice demands that we actually set these people free.

OK, very fitting!

But they don’t actually work for the Patriots, they are just doing a human interest story about how many times the Commish can fall for/accept the same lame excuse before people give up and stop watching football all together......and we’ve come full circle.

Totally agree with your points on the NFL. Not sure how much more nonsense I can take about them supporting an organization what wants to dismantle the whole nuclear family concept. The best response I have seen is what Marcellus Wiley said on his show yesterday. Everyone should read it. Very well said and he makes a number of great points. How can anybody support an organization with those mission statement supports a non family environment. Good for you for speaking out!!!

Funny, I never kept a minority down a day in my life.

I always looked at a person's character.

But it is another election cycle and the Demonrats LOVE to play identity politics........... and that is just a FACT.
