NY State COVID-19 quarantine and training camp.

I haven't seen NY's quarantine state list, but I suspect it includes Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California among others.  For NFL players, quarantining at home can be a big issue, if you don't have fitness equipment in your home.  Two weeks is long enough to mess with your conditioning, and that can be a factor in training camp injuries.  I realize that training camp as a quarantine would be imperfect.  Players and staff will have traveled from states both on and off the states quarantine list, and some will not have traveled at all, and all will be mingling at camp, but besides that, it could be relatively self contained.  The team could contract with a local hotel to provide lodging for team personnel only.  Everybody rides the team bus to OBD in the morning.  Players get tested daily for a couple weeks.  They eat together, meet together, go through workouts and drills together.  While there is mingling among them, they would be a completely self contained group.

This seems like it could be a rare good use for a toll plaza? Which NYS just happens to have an abundance of. Shut off EZ pass except for residents with NY registered addresses. Make everyone else provide information on where they are quarantining for random checks.

I’ve driven Charlotte to Buffalo at least 60 times in the last 22 years. Last time was two weeks ago for a Black Lake Fishing trip( Canada fly-in got cancelled).

The tolls didn’t even have people in them at 50% of the ones I passed through.
Also, you could just get off in PA and take a back road.

I second Don’s opinion that people simply do what they want and screw everyone else.
I also don’t think there is ANY way that NFL players aren’t getting let in.
I am slowly coming around to this season might actually not happen..... and I HATE the thought?

I don't see a big deal with taking a family to an amusement park, they are opening up anyway, it's time to have a little fun. If you want to stay in your house all summer then so be it.

And that’s the point, this virus is spreading because “WE” are spreading it by doing things like going to the amusement park or any other gathering of people, the odds are high that you or one of your family members may  become infected in that environment god forbid, two Secret service agents caught the virus at the Tulsa political rally and a total of twelve or fourteen are in quarantine, along with  six Republican staffers.  Do the right thing for you and the others around you. Please. Nuthin but luv dude.

How will this even be monitored by the state of ny

You can't. I drove to florida this past weekend and they have a Covid checkpoint that you have to drive through. They're looking for people with NY, NJ, and CT tags. But what the hell are they going to do? Tell you that you have to go into quarantine? OK. They can't cuff you and force you. Its a gigantic waste of time and resources. Aggravating as all hell.

The people who decide to go to the amusement park, then the next week decide to go to the grocery store without a mask (because that is their “right”) effectively took me to the amusement park with them. I don’t want to go to the amusement park! Gee, thanks.

I think they do try to discourage people, because you’re right...there is really nothing they can control.

I get your point but that's how life has been for ever, germs are everywhere, they can't be avoided.

So, for how long do people need to stay inside and also businesses not opening? This virus will be with us until there is a vaccine and that may not be for a very long time.

A little common sense can go a long way. I’m not saying lock yourself in your house. Life can go back close to “normal” IMO, but skipping the big concert, or 20k maskless person indoor rally, or happy hour with people 5 deep at the bar, or any other obviously dangerous situation would be a good idea for everyone right now. Crowded bars seem to be particularly likely spots to get infected (see Clemson football), so maybe less of that isn’t such a bad idea.

It's almost like a coordinated effort to tank America.  Shame everyone to stay inside, forever.

Correct. I live in TX and anytime you get off a plane from a place listed in the Governor's executive order (New York, Jersey, Miami, Atlanta, Washington, California, etc) Troopers were waiting at bottom of the jet bridge with self quarantine paperwork. It's been a real pain for essential work travel.

Turned out his load unknowingly didn’t have DoT numbers. They told him to call in the numbers when he got to the truck and he would be fine. But since their were no numbers (not his truck) he wasn’t “essential” and they told him he had to stay. He waited a few days and decided to make the run anyways because he couldn’t afford 2 weeks of hotels.

Long and short. He got popped by a trooper at the Texas border. Lucky for him, they cut him a break and escorted him back.

And this is my point,  I mean if “WE” want to contain and beat this virus we ALL need to pitch in and do the right thing or we are saying I’m not willing to help out??  Yes it’s harder to do the right thing to help out our fellow country men and women, but some sacrifice is needed if “WE” do not want to spread this virus to our loved ones and neighbors, including our neighboring states. It begs the questioned,  Are we a united country anymore? Do we as “Americans” care about each other? If not what have we become?

People are dumb.  Any direction from Gov't is scoffed at and viewed as a trampling of our rights as "free" Americans.  This Virus isn't going anywhere and our stupid ass population is going to see to that.  Our leaders aren't any better in some of these States and our Pres is in denial still..

You are correct,  but instead of “dumb” I would use the phrases willfully ignorant, or just plain stupid,  sadly America has fallen behind the rest of the civilized world especially in education/critical thinking, damn sad frankly.... all in one life time no less...
