I can tell you in the NY metro area in terms of popularity it goes like this. 1. Yankees 2. Giants 3. Jets or Mets (depending on who is doing better) 4. See above 5. Knicks 6. Rangers 7. Isles or Devils (same as Jets-Mets) 8. See above 9. Nets The NYC media doesn't give a crap hockey. NY-NJ-LI area is basically a football and baseball market. The other sports are secondary.
