Two bills make the list:

Quote
#52 Tre'Davious White Buffalo Bills CB
After a so-so 2018 season, he bounced back last season to play at a high level on the corner. He's a good man cover player who is ascending.

White listed as the third CB behind Gilmore at 6, and Ramsey at 26.

Quote
#91 Stefon DiggsBuffalo Bills WR
He had 63 catches for the Vikings last season, but eight were for 40 yards or more. That's big-play ability. He will add a lot to the Bills offense.

Diggs is the 13th WR behind some obvious inclusions such ad Thomas, Hill, Hopkins, etc, and some really questionable ones such as AJ Green, JuJu, and OBJ.

Not one Bill mentioned in the "just missed category." though WR's like DJ Moore, Allen Robinson, and Devante Parker get mentioned while I think Brown is equal to those guys. Also, Safties like Marcus Williams and Eddie Jackson get mentioned with no mention of Poyer or Hyde.

Not that I should be surprised, but definitely some questionable choices as far as Bills recognition goes. White was better than Ramsey last year, and even if you give Ramsey the nod due to his body of work, I still don't see him being twice as good as White as the numbers suggest. Plus, if we're looking at entire careers then it's hard to put Gilmore so high. Also, AJ Green over Diggs feels like a clear mistake.

But what should be expected from someone who considers White a "Good man cover player"?

I saw this list and debated starting a thread.

I won't even count Diggs because he hasn't played a game as a Bill yet, so basically 1 player makes the list.

It definitely plays into the narrative that the Bills are a good team as opposed to a collection of good players. I'm not sure what 1 player in the top 100 says about the squad. I guess it makes McDermott look really good.

You should count Diggs because he’s under contract for the Buffalo Bills. Should the Bucs not count Brady or Gronk on their team yet?

The Bills are a collection of good players, but without the superstars.

For defense, I would argue that the 11th best player on the field has a greater impact on your team's success then the impact of the best player.  The weak link is consistently exploited by opposing offenses who game plan away from your talented players.  On offense, you could make the same argument for offensive lines, where the weak link is attacked relentlessly.

Most teams have bigger holes than the Bills and players who don't belong on an NFL field affect the game more than the superstars do.  Show me a ranking of each team's weakest starter and I would expect the Bills to be at or near the top.  This is why the Bills starting to win with consistency.

The roster has been built to fit the coach’s strategy, vision, and to ensure a solid culture.  I like that they’ve improved depth and probably better able to withstand injuries.

My concern is their lack of top end talent will show up against better opponents.  Depth is nice, but over the season those players will not consistently provide a matchup disadvantage.  A good scheme and better in-game decisions may help offset this, but it’s a long season and their schedule likely will be more challenging in 2020.

It comes down to Allen’s improvement to be a force multiplier on offense.  Hopefully he is up to the task and can get the ball to Diggs and others to improve that side of the ball.  I hope McD isn’t going to just expect the defense and a conservative offense will get them deep into the playoffs.

Prisco is actually very high on the Bills and Josh Allen.

The Rams has a bunch of high end talent. As soon as that talent was paid (Goff, Cooks, Gurley, Donald) they plateaued.

Also they have been very loose with spending with draft picks (two first rounders spent on Ramsey).

The Bills should keep looking to improve the offensive line and linebacker play, but really this comes down to how good Allen is.

You do know the Rams were in the Super Bowl the second year McVay was HC, right?

Buffalo hasn't won a playoff game under McBeane.  LAR may have some issues, but it's clear their HC understands offense in a way that McDermott/Daboll haven't demonstrated.

That list is shaky at best.

It is tough....32 teams...100 best players..that is averaging 3 players for each team...Now there are 'star' teams like Dallas, NE, Green Bay, New Orleans, Pittsburgh,  Baltimor, New York that obviously would list more playeers to get more readerships and clicks

Are there teams without a player on the list?

Great post...and I think this is exactly what the 2017-2019 Bills have been.

But, like BillsVet says, now it's time for the Bills to play with the big boys. In the playoffs, the best teams have depth too, so if the weak links are even, the team with the best talent will win.

I think by the end of 2020 we are going to see Diggs, White and Edumonds on everyone's top 100 lists (if they are healthy) I also think Ed Oliver and Josh have a crack at it.

However,  I'm with billsfan89. I think the talent is there on the Bills roster, it's just not known nation-wide yet or hasn't fully blossomed. First, we now have Diggs, who is a top-end/superstar player. Jerry Hughes is a pretty top end talent (if he comes back well from the injuries). Poyer and Hyde, as a tandem, are one of the best safety duos in the league. Mario Addison has been averaging 9 sacks a year for four years straight. Tre is already one of the best in the league. John Brown and Cole Beasley as your #2 and #3 WRs is pretty high-end. So, we have some top-end talent. And, we may even have some more superstar players (beyond Diggs and White) on the team, it's just we didn't buy them---they're home grown---so it's taken some time for them to grow into it. But, I really think that Josh, Tremaine, Singletary, Knox, Moss, Oliver, and possibly AJ, all have the potential to bust out into household names, sooner rather than later.

So, not surprising that the Bills weren't well-represented on that list as of now. But, I have a feeling that is about to change, starting with this season.

The Bills aren't built with a lot of top end talent. Besides Tre, Diggs, and possibly Edumonds/Allen/Oliver there isn't a lot of top end talent. The Bills roster is instead built to be solid all around and deep to withstand the rigors of an NFL season. Yes there are a lot of good players on the roster BUT the roster isn't going to have 4-5 All-Pros and 10+ Pro Bowlers most likely. But where is the glaring weakness on the roster? Allen has 3 good WR's to throw to and an up and coming TE and a veteran TE as well as Singletary and Yeldon out the backfield. Singletary and Moss are a good RB combo. The O-line so many on here B word about returns 5 starters, has 4 good players on the bench and has 5 starters who are solid.

The defense is a good unit on all level and the ST unit which was decent last season added 2 quality specialists and a kicker. McBeane added depth and younger players via the draft and overall created a team that can win 11+ games and grow a young QB.

I think it’s a pretty good list.  He gave a lot of weight to body of work rather than just last year’s production, so a guy like John Brown want going to get much consideration.  Shaq Barrett had 19.5 sacks last season and was 82nd on the list.  Brown is a really nice #2 WR who had a strong season last year, but it wasn’t the kind of amazing season that makes you find a spot for him on the list despite a pretty pedestrian career prior to 2019.

As others have said, Buffalo’s strength isn’t the top level talent.  It’s the consistency of solid players at all positions and the depth  behind them.  That’s a good strategy for beating the inferior teams, but it’s tough to win against upper echelon opponents, and last years results bore that out.  If Josh can take the next step with Diggs, and Oliver becomes a beast on the line, nobody is going to want to play them.
