Coronavirus phrases that should be banned

Recommended Posts

I believe I have had about enough of people saying these words and phrases. (I am

guilty myself). My new pet peeves:

1) “flatten the curve”

2) “bend the curve”

3) “new normal”

4) saying “COVID 19”

5) using the word “novel”

6) getting all casual by saying “corona”

7) laypeople using medical acronyms like “PPE” and “N-95”

8 ) using “social distancing” as a verb

9) over- use of word “wave” and “data”

10) “boomer remover” (no longer funny)

you all have any?

So you don't want to talk about something killing thousands?  You literally don't want to hear corona or COVID, what do you want to call it?  You can't just sweep it under the rug and act like it doesn't exist.

I have heard a few people refer to it as 'Rona and that irritates me greatly.

Beyond that "social distancing" and "flatten the curve" kinda piss me off as well. How bout I flatten your face!

If we’re not allowed to call it COVID 19 or corona, what are we allowed to call it?

I agree that social distancing and flatten the curve are getting old.

I have a few N95 masks lying around my house, because my wife and I have been using them for years when cleaning or woodworking so that dust won’t make us sneeze.  Maybe I’m unusual for knowing what they are before this year.

Boomer Remover is clever, but I’m a Boomer, so I don’t like it.  I also think the people who are dying the most are the pre-Boomers, which might be the Greatest Generation era.

I don’t think we know what the new normal will be, but I bet people will be less comfortable doing things like gathering in crowds, shaking hands, touching things like door handles, etc.   I know I will be, but I’m not really excited about discussing it.

Saying COVID-19 is more accurate than referring to it as Coronavirus.

This is the first I've heard "boomer remover," and I chuckled.  But it really isn't funny.

So basically you're sick of hearing any mention of the virus in any context.  Got it.

Here are words that I am completely sick of:

Quarantini

Any jokes about "toilet paper" or "TP"

Any jokes about "Corona" Beer

China Virus

Quaranteaming

Sun.  Shut up about the sun. SHUT UP ABOUT THE SUN!!!!

Oh, another one. "Wuhan flu" is both funny and annoyingly ignorant at the same time.

Hardly ignorant since it is where it originated.  So do majority of masks on market which is an interesting coincidence.

I heard WHO called Wuhan Health Organization and I have been using it regularly.

[to person said I am prejudiced against Chinese my wife is Chinese and I picked up for her where it is called that in Chinese social media]

I hadn't heard "boomer remover" either. I liked "boomer doomer" back in January but like you said, it isn't really funny anymore now that it's actually happening.

I find it ignorant to call it that because I'm taking the stance that this virus came from the Earth, not from a specific city, region or people.

It got into the human chain due to people eating animals prepared in unsanitary environment and after it was clamped down they are still doing it. I have seen the videos.

“Sorry I coughed on you again.”

I hate hearing THAT one!

Also, pretty much any noise that happens after Gov Brian Kemp opens his mouth.
