You sound like a parrot who just watched CNN

I get my information from several sources.  CNN and Fox are two of them.

Its not my fault that Trump literally comes across as a snake oil salesman.  Isn't he the guy who had Trump Vitamins?  Supposedly he was going to tailor your vitamins based on urine samples you sent in.  How did that work out?

Snake oil salesman?

sounds like another parroted comment that you hear throughout MSNBC and CNN

And Vitamins?  What does that have to do with doctors who are infinitely more qualified than you are who are prescribing hydroxychloroquine throughout the world.

Come back to me when you are ready to provide some substance rather than these shallow arguments.

apparently, the liberal talking point word of the day is Snake Oil Salesman

They can’t help it.  They just mindlessly repeat what they hear on the left wing echo chambers that we call the mainstream news.

Well, when you here him asking "what have you got to lose" and "I might take it", yeah, he sounds just like a snake oils salesman.

Exactly my point.  The person who is touting this the most is not a Doctor.

I have no problem with them trying the drug in clinical trials to determine its efficacy.

And yet, if you get Wuhan virus and you start to have labored breathing, you'll be begging for HCQ.

It’s a line that has been used over and over from corporate mainstream left wing news sites.

It’s silly to think that there is a mass movement of doctors listening to Trumps recommendations on what to prescribe to their patients.  With that said there is a strong demand for this drug from doctors and state and local governments and Trump is securing more supply for it from outside sources and supplying the governments with their demand.

It’s not your fault that you are bothered by this, it’s just a byproduct of the media’s manipulation.

I heard about HCQ from a colleague a few days before I heard Trump mention it.

Well, given that snake oil has benefits in hair care, Trump is probably a great spokesman for it.

We have a poster here who said that he has been using it for sometime and was concerned that it might become in short supply. (this was weeks ago) I believe he was using it for arthritis.

Its not the media's manipulation.  I'm not buying Trump's manipulation.

And as far as the line coming from "left wing news sites", well, Trump is an over the top salesman.  Snake oil salesman is apropos.

Look, I'm an engineer to training and work at an R&D Facility.  I've seen highly touted things fall flat frequently.  I'd have more faith in this drug if it was being touted by Fauci, or Birx but coming from Trump or Navarro?  Not buying it.

Yeah, I went over that with Doc a week ago.  His attitude was let him suffer.

This drug is getting accolades around the world. A French doctor gave it to over 1000 patients with covid-19 and it was effective in 91% of them. It would appear that the issues are the dosing protocols and at what stage of the illness to give it to the patient.

So do you have a link to the study?  Was there a control group?  The only study I saw said 6 of 20 people had reduced viral loads in nasal swabs, but that isn't proof it was the drug and not their own immune system.

Gotta chime in here.

A) I recognized the mainstream left was making a huge mistake by summarily dismissing this drug simply because Trump sent out a tweet suggesting it may work. It may work. Considering no cure exists, there's absolutely no reason to dismiss a treatment that's shown promise.

HOWEVER, the Dems(my party) are at war with each other over which direction the party should take. You have the Biden, Pelosi (I'm a Democrat) wing and the Bernie, AOC (Fundamental Change) wing. The latter is essentially threatening to sit this election out because they didn't get their way.

Now, my assumption is that you're not a fan of either wing, but Republicans have been in lock step with Trump since day one. I suppose that's because he's great. That's fine. But Republicans ALWAYS get in line behind their candidate while Dems fight among themselves. So while MANY on the left do fit the orange man bad mantra, an equal or greater amount of those on the right live by the orange man GOOD mantra.

Both parties have NPC's and they're all equally useless.

Personally, I hold quite a few positions that are on the moderate to moderate left spectrum such as public safety nets, infrastructure spending, healthcare and immigration to name a few.

I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016.  I found his demagoguery of Latinos in the Run up to be a huge turnoff and I didn’t trust him.  I voted for a third party candidate who happened to be an idiot.

Ive seen enough out of Trump now that I will most likely pull the lever for him in 2020.  He has turned out to be much better than I thought he would have been.   I still don’t like the way he often times communicates and his world class narcissism but I approve of his actions.

The media has been so awful that they have also been another contributing factor that has pushed me in his direction.   So when he takes them on, I sympathize with it.  I honestly just cannot stand the media.   They are a Broken institution.

My problem with this whole thing is that it was irresponsible and inappropriate for him to gamble on this by immediately hitching his horse to the HCQ wagon for all to see. It's a gamble to gain political capital, plain and simple. It may turn out that this is an effective treatment and if so, great. I would prefer if he had let the docs do their thing and refrained from giving questionable medical advice, as he's obviously unqualified to do so. Had he just let the experts do their jobs, this would not have turned into the most ridiculous and miscast political issue of the crisis to date.

If it wasn't so serious I would find it funny.  Hey, I'm going to provide some people hope with a relatively safe drug based off some anecdotal success stories (possible placebo effect) as we don't have time for large scale clinical trials as we want to save lives.  Makes sense to most people.  Media -  HOW DARE YOU.

I don't see this being a gamble as the OP made it out to be as the rift between the media and Trump has gotten predictable and boring.  My guess is there will be anecdotal stories of hydroxycholoquine being a success and others about it not helping at all.  The research will be inconclusive.  There will pry be a case where someone dies of heart failure and the media will blame it as a side effect of hydroxycholoquine.  As far as the election is concerned, the people that ultimately decide who wins don't even pay attention until after labor day.  There will be a million news cycles between now and then.
