Representative government cannot express the will of the mass of the people, because there is no mass of the people; The People is a fiction, like The State. You cannot get a Will of the Mass, even among a dozen persons who all want to go on a picnic. The only human mass with a common will is a mob, and that will is a temporary insanity. In actual fact, the population of a country is a multitude of diverse human beings with an infinite variety of purposes and desires and fluctuating wills.”

According to some (although Trump's voter fraud commission failed to find any evidence of voter fraud) mail in ballots are rampant with fraud. Should absentee ballots then be made illegal?

You are being intellectually dishonest.  Absentee ballots amount to 1 out of 1000 potential voters so they can be very easily verified by any group having a concern.  A municipality that has 100,000 voters will have extreme difficulty validating all ballots cast in a 100 percent mail in process in a timely manner.

“Even voting for the right is doing nothing for it. It is only expressing to men feebly your desire that it should prevail. A wise man will not leave the right to the mercy of chance, nor wish it to prevail through the power of the majority. There is but little virtue in the action of masses of men.”

In the 2016 presidential election 17.7% of voters voted absentee and another 5.9% voted by mail. 23.6% of voters mailed in their ballot.

Hillary's plurality of 3M voters?  She always talked about them as though they were in the bag.  The bag of the local Democratic elections commissioner.  Interesting that we are in the season of Lent and you talk like a New Testament Pharisee.

Nice avatar of your dad. I could see that expression by him when you :

 1.  Were held back after kindergarten.

 2.  Failed fourth grade.

 3.  Got a 10 (out of 100) on your NYS Algebra Regents exam.

 4.  Got declined for enrollment by ECC.

Remember when you celebrated this a year or so ago ?

Quote

Last year, a political operative working for North Carolina Republican congressional candidate Mark Harris was charged with fraud for directing a group of people to fill out as many as one thousand absentee ballot requests on behalf of voters — most of whom were unaware the ballots were being requested.

These people then collected the ballots and filled them out themselves. Harris defeated Democrat Dan McCready by just 905 votes and, though it was never shown that the number of tainted ballots was enough to account for Harris’s win, the election results were thrown out and a new election was held. (Republican Dan Bishop beat McCready in a special election by 2,400 votes.)

Harris was rightly punished for abusing mail-in ballots,

Now, you act like it can't be done.

Some consistency on the Left would be nice.......................................................I know, I know. ?

That's like saying we should close the banks because there are bank robbers. No, punish the guilty but let the vast majority of honest mail in ballotsers vote!

Both sides will be wary of this trick and will be looking for it

It was caught and yes, Harris was rightly punished. The system worked. This one act of fraud is not enough for me to want to make absentee voting illegal.
