Bills trade for Diggs - jw no discussions on a restructure

The Bills just sent the Vikings four picks, including a first-rounder, to acquire Diggs. Those picks are worth 21.9 points on Chase Stuart's draft value chart, which is something close to the eighth overall pick in a typical draft.

This has been discussed, it's more like the 18th pick. Show anyone who has ever dropped from 8 to 22 by just gaining a 4th, 5th, and 6th. It's never happened.

And once again, NO ONE WOULD MAKE THAT TRADE. The value of those picks are around pick 18. If you think I'm wrong, try finding a trade that would be similar values.

It costs what it costs.  Bills fans are going to need to adjust to the new paradigm that is 'win now mode'.  This team should be a top 5 AFC team easily next year and likely top 3 now that Houston has imploded.  Enjoy the ride and don't worry about the cost.  You'll cross that bridge when it comes.

Imagine thinking a couple of Day 3 picks is all it takes to trade up into the top 10 from the bottom of the round. Nonsense.

Charts are all well and good as a guideline, but it’s not the real world. No way you’re getting in the top ten from 22 without giving up a lot more than what the Bills gave for Diggs. They also have a 3rd year QB and can’t wait solely on a 1st round wideout to develop. It’s a good trade, and a fair one. They certainly didn’t steal Diggs, but the fact that Hopkins isn’t calling a new AFC team his home speaks volumes here.

How many targets did he have in those games?

7, 5, 6, 5, 9, 9.

In the 4 yard game he had 5, the 49 yard game 6, the 25 yards game 9.

You can extrapolate to what the numbers "work out to for a season", but he was held to under 50 yards 7 times in 15 regular season games.  4 total catches for 19 and 57 yards in 2 playoff games.

The one thing I will say is that the Bills appear to be aware of Allen’s strengths and shortcomings and are building around that by adding wideouts who are strong at gaining separation over clunky clashers that need targets in tight windows.

If it is the value of the picks, then there clearly would be trades, as that is how markets work.

Look at recent comps for real world value, not someone’s chart. There are many charts out there and they’re simply a guideline or starting point. Markets also change , they’re not static. Go into a real estate deal and say “ the chart says it should cost X” and see where it gets you.

Oh I realize this completely, I'm not arguing for one nonsensical chart.
