There are a few exceptions, but every great QB has always had a #1 elite WR.

Montana and Young are top 10 QB's of all time and they had Jerry Rice.

Unitas had Berry.

Peyton had Harrison.

Brees has Thomas.

I can go on, but you get my point.

Also, we all know that Allen needs to improve the deep ball (duh), but he did start to connect on those late in the year and if Brown and Williams do their jobs in the playoff game, we are looking at Allen in a different light instead of complaining about his deep ball and his hideous bone head play on the final drive of regulation.

And Brady had .... oh wait. I'm with Bangarang on this. It's not a great excuse. There are plenty of exceptions.

And Brees hasn't by any definition had great receivers through most of his career. Brees was a great QB far before Thomas became a Saint. Who did Brett Favre have the year he was with Minnesota and they lost the conference championship to the Saints? He made Sidney Rice look good, but is Sidney Rice an elite #1? Or the year he was with the Jets and the Jets looked like title contenders till Favre's injury? Cotchery and Coles? Please. Same with Green Bay. He made decent WRs look good, mostly. How about Roethlisberger? Hines Ward was no "#1 elite WR." He had some good WRs on and off, but didn't need one. There are plenty of exceptions. Joe Montana won two of his Super Bowls before Jerry Rice got there. The first Lombardi his WRs were Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon. In the 2nd championship, he had Dwight Clark, Renaldo Nehemiah, and Freddie Solomon. No receiver had more than 880 yards.

Great QBs don't need great WRs. It helps an awful lot if they have them of course, but it's not an absolute necessity by any means. If anything, great QBs create WRs who look like they're elite until and unless they leave that team.

I think great QBs elevate those around them.  Nobody is calling Josh Allen "great" yet, but he just gave John Brown his best year ever and came a smidge away from doing the same for Cole Beasley (career high TDs, 2nd-most yards).

This offense is going to be something with Diggs, and Josh Allen will continue to open eyes this season.

With the OL intact for a 2nd season and same OL coach I'm optimistic .  Ford now has some experience , Nsekhe back healthy , Williams , RT looks ready this season. Allen should have a very good season.

Well, if it is any consolation to you, Allen did give Brown and Beasley career years.

Simple point is, anyone with a brain in their heads knows exactly where Allen came from. And for anybody to think he would be a finished product after year 2 just don't understand where Allen came from and his work ethic to get to the top.

The early returns are promising and we have to remain patient in Allen's rise.
