Need an alternative to AT&T for the Sunday ticket

You've probably thought of this, but make sure the modem is up to date as well.  One of my friends was having a similar issue and I suggested she check her modem.  It turns out the modem was eight years old.  She brought it to the Spectrum store for a free swap and hasn't had one issue since.  I'm sure AT&T does something similar...they can't be worse than Spectrum, can they??

Done that too.

I ditched DTV this year during the season because my bill tripled and they stopped giving me loyalty discounts.  My buddy loaded up a pirate program on my Firestick, $40 for 6 months, 100's of channels, pay per view, premium channels, adult channels and all the major sports like NFL Sunday ticket, MLB, NHL, NBA packages too, international channels,  and I got the local Buffalo broadcast for every game.  10/10 will live the pirates life form now on.   That being said, these sites, even though sometimes reliable, can be shut off at any time so it is a gamble.  I was lucky and the program I used worked flawlessly all season, but I know it could not work at any moment and I currently don't have a back-up plan, but I'm sure I'll be able to quickly find another service.

Augie, can you explain as DTV is owned by AT&T, so they are the same thing, unless you mean you se them for Cel., and DTV.   I’m not asking other than confused as I had DTV for twenty years, but can’t now as I’m in a place where we can’t get the right angle to get a signal.

We have AT&T U-Verse for daily TV, plus DTV for Sunday Ticket and the occasional U-Verse outage. I don’t remember the exact cost, but it’s a stupid number. I am frugal in other ways.....

I concur...they are awful...having said that...I call every few months and get discounts on my bill....it's a pain but it works...my movie channels are always free or discounted and when I called last week they offered a Center Ice discount without me asking. It's convenient with DVR, on demand and movies so I don't have to go to a theater to watch

Sounds like me last year I got ST free, a 200$ gift card and a ton off on monthly programming paying 68$ a month.  Just gotta call and be pleasant

That was my case for the past 6 years.  ST for free, other discounts.  I am always OVERLY nice and polite when I call and have never had any issues.  All the sudden this year it no longer works.  I was told "we believe you;re paying a fair price, we have no current offers".  So I told them I would have to cancel and they sent me to the cancellation guy without hesitation.  I know I was speaking to the right people for the discounts, loyalty specialists - customer retention, the same department I spoke to the previous 6 years.

Dont forget to get a VPN. Its still cheaper the DTV

I use an old Windows 8 laptop (HDMI cable to TV) separate from my network.  That way i don't even use a VPN and I have had no problems.

Just another option some might want to consider.

Who can we use other than AT&T as a carrier for my Sunday Ticket?  Our WiFi for AT@T constantly goes down and it’s driving my wife and I nuts, but we keep them to get the ticket. Help!!!!

your WIFI does not need to come from AT&T in order to get the Sunday Ticket.  The best way, IMO, is to use any wifi that works in your house (perhaps consider a Mesh network), and use Roku.  You can download the Sunday Ticket App right onto Roku.

Another long time DIRECTV subscriber here who just cancelled and went to streaming. My bill doubles and I got the “no credits available” speech. Ok, then cancel I go. They put up no fight to keep me. I loved the NFL Sunday Ticket, but I liked the red zone more. In fact, I rarely turned on an individual game rather than have the red zone on. Luckily sling tv has the red zone in their sports package... for $10 a month. A far cry cheaper than the $400 or whatever that Sunday Ticket Max is on directv.

If you actually watch the games, there is an NFL Sunday ticket app for any smart TV. I have heard people will gladly split their login with you. They can be found on online marketplaces.

You don't need  ATT internet to get Direct TV.  You can have whomever for your internet service and and just have DTV with ST, but that means a dish on your roof and 2 year contract.

Or you can watch the games online though many of the illegal streams that others here talk about.  Personally myself, I'd never do anything that's illegal but many others do.  But you  still are streaming through your internet access and if that's going down all the time then so will the illegal streams too,

Most of the other options mentioned, Roku's planbeeTV (whatevet that is) are still dependent on your internet signal, so they really won't help you at all, unless what you're saying is your internet is great all of the time except when you watch a game via ST online.

As much as I hate directv since they merged with AT&T, I just can't bring myself to cancel their service. It's way too convenient having the ticket on my TV. This past year was the 1st time in 9 years I paid for the Sunday ticket. Like some others have said, they just would not budge this year. Also with the NFL showing some games in 4k, I can't let directv go, yet. Not only has their customer service gone down, but their reliability has also. The first dvr I had lasted me like 6 years. The newest boxes I have I've replaced 3 times. They'll just randomly crap the bed.

I have U-Verse too and love it, but then you also know that they took NFL Network away from U-Verse.

I call AT&T to get it back , and they say the only way I can get it is to switch to DirecTV. AT&T is so damn crooked. :censored:

Your still paying ATT.

So?  I guess my point was get Sunday Ticket To Go and a different internet provider like Comcast cable. It’s been flawless for me running on cable internet. Reddit sucks too, don’t know how people can stand watching it on those streams. They constantly go out, quality is often poor, and I spend so much time looking for new streams.

At one time DTV was a premier customer service organization.  It was already going downhill before the AT&T purchase, but that transaction accelerated the decent and it is now a horrible customer service experience, as is par for the course for AT&T.   I will be off DTV very soon.  I have already cut the Sunday Ticket cord for two years now and I do not miss it.

One major reason I keep DTV is NFL ST a and the fact I have Sirius radio.  I listen to the Bills broadcast while watching the ST BRoadcast.  Using these  streams make it difficult to synch the audio and video, are unreliable and it’s illegal.  Yes it’s harder to get the discounts we once became used to when AT&T merged with them ya just have to work harder at it like calling till ya get a really helpful rep and the customer loyalty group is just a stall group.

As ed_formerly_of_roch mentioned, if your internet service is crap, it doesn't matter what app you use. Having said this, I cut the DTV chord years ago and switched to comcast bundle of internet and cable. Then the price seemed too high for what I was getting. I cut cable and now use Comcast internet only and purchased a "jail broken" firestick. Came with Sunday Ticket for free. Also get MLB for free(go Yankees!). Again, it's a mute point if your internet is crap. Good luck.

I mentioned this in another Sunday Ticket thread and may be applicable to some of you.

As a season ticket holder, I receive an email every year for $100 Sunday ticket Max. Perhaps I can get a better discount if I call Directv & speak with the proper rep but now taking the easy way and just fill out the form for $100...no more calls. I have both regular seats & clubs so I do not know which one gets that discount sent to me.

Full disclosure. I am a long time Directv & ATT wireless customer.
