2nd/3rd Tier Draft Wide Reciever Rankings

I was wondering how everyone ranks the wide receivers outside of the “consensus” top-5 they are projected to go in the 2nd’ish round.

Top-5 are:

Jeudy

Lamb

Ruggs III

Shenault

Higgins

I feel like the next group consists of the following:

Reagor

Jefferson

Aiyuk

Hamlin

Mims

Peoples-Jones

Edwards

Pittman Jr

How would You rank those 8 receivers that come after the initial 5?

For our team:

Jefferson

Aiyuk/reagor

tyler johnson

mims

pittman

edwards

those are the only guys I’ve watched film on so far, so it could change.

My 2nd Tier WRs

Justin Jefferson (2)
Brandon Aiyuk (2)

Jalen Reagor (2)

Bryan Edwards (2-3)

Gabriel Davis (2-3)

Van Jefferson (2-3)

Michael Pittman (2-3)

Denzel Mims (2-3)

Quartney Davis (3)

Im a big fan on Gabriel Davis and Quartney Davis... I think they will be solid pros that most are overlooking

Peoples-Jones I feel is a round 5 guy, and Tyler Johnson should go round 3 at latest but rumor is character issues.

I think it’s really a top 3 and then everyone else is below those guys. I would rank the 10 leftovers from your post:

1. Reagor

2. Aiyuk

3. Higgins

4. Jefferson

5. Pittman

6. Shenault

7. Edwards

8. Hamler

9. DPJ

10. Mims

I don’t mean to derail this but I’m not sure that’s the consensus top 5. The consensus top 3 seems pretty clear but there are absolutely teams that will have Reagor, Aiyuk and maybe others ahead of Shenault and Higgins.

I mean if you look at mock drafts I would say 85-90 percent have those 5 guys as the first 5 off the board.

I understand that’s not GM opinions or that of all fans, but in terms of the professional mock draft community (TDN, ESPN, Etc) those are the top 5

Agree to disagree I guess...I’m not saying that Shenault and Higgins won’t go 4 and 5 but there is a consensus top 3 it seems. As an example Daniel Jeremiah has Jefferson and Ayiuk at 4 and 5. Word around the senior bowl is pretty much every team had a first round grade on him. I think there’s a VERY good chance that Ayiuk is the 4th receiver taken.

I said that I won’t derail it though so here are my WR rankings (subject to change):

- Jeudy

- Ruggs

- Lamb

- Raegor

- Ayiuk

- Shenault

- Justin Jefferson

- Higgins

- Pittman

- Edwards

- Van Jefferson (almost forgot him)

- Gandy-Golden

- Mims

- Peoples-Jones

Aiyuk is going in 1st round.
If we are going WR round 1, 1-Lamb 2-Jeudy 3- Ruggs 4-Aiyuk is my board, and I’m ok with any of them at 22.   No thank you to Shenault or Higgins.  I’d rather go CB or Edge, or trade back.  All my opinion of course

In an amazing WR class I think it’s Lamb and Jeudy in a class of their own then everyone else is dealers choice.

This is my personal top 15:

  1. Ceedee Lamb, Oklahoma
  2. Jerry Jeudy, Alabama
  3. Tee Higgins, Clemson
  4. Justin Jefferson, LSU
  5. Denzel Mims, Baylor
  6. Laviska Shenault Jr., Colorado
  7. Henry Ruggs, Alabama
  8. Michael Pittman Jr., USC
  9. Jalen Reagor, TCU
  10. Brandon Aiyuk, Arizona State
  11. Tyler Johnson, Minn
  12. Lynn Bowden, UK
  13. Quintez Cephus, Wisconsin
  14. Jauan Jennings, Tenn
  15. Colin Johnson, Texas

Ruggs - Burner

Jeudy - Best Route Runner

Lamb - YAC. Quicker than he is fast.

- These 3 separate themselves. Depends on what a team values most.

Aiyuk
Bowden

Claypool

Higgins

Reagor

Shenault

Jefferson

Hill

Second tier. All will go possibly end of 1 thru 4th rounds. I like Bowden and Shenault best personally of these. Both could be an Anquan Boldin type receiver I think. Higgins has bust potential IMO.

I've seen a lot of people down on Higgins in multiple different threads here.  What are people's issues with him?  (Idk enough about him, just wondering)

To me, he’s going to be just okay. He doesn’t separate and is a good, not great athlete. One of my best friends is the President of the Clemson Alumni Chapter in New Orleans. He follows them like I do the Bills. I asked his opinion and he said “there’s no way that I’d take him in the first.” That was all the convincing that I needed. He’s been right on pretty much every Clemson player to date and even sometimes with unpopular opinions (ie he thought Hopkins would be a better pro than Sammy).

NFL teams expect him to run in the 4.45-4.50 range, but most people (myself included) are pretty skeptical of that.

If he doesn’t have the long speed, he doesn’t really have anything that suggests he’ll separate well, so that leaves him as a contested catch artist, which is akin to being a mid-range specialist in the NBA. It’s not highly valuable if you aren’t offering anything else and that’s the way a lot of people that are down on him feel about him.

Having said that, I don’t think he’ll run a 4.6 like some think; I think he’s around a 4.55 and I think he’s more skilled than people give him credit for.

I am with NFL teams. I think he is going to run faster than a lot of people expect. I reject the separation issues. I see plenty of separation ability on tape.

I think he is raw. I think he currently runs a limited route tree. And I think his release needs work. But I think after the top 3 if I was trying to find the most likely guy to be a #1 WR in the NFL I'd pick Tee Higgins. I think this board as a rule is too low on him and way too high on Shenault.

Tier 1 - First round grades

1. Jeudy

2. Lamb

3. Ruggs

-----

Tier 2 - Second round grades

4. Higgins

5. Reagor

6. Aiyuk

7. Shenault

8. Hamler

9. Jefferson

-----

Tier 3 - Late second / Third round

10. Pittman

11. T. Johnson

12. G. Davis

And I also think it’s very fluid. After the combine guys will move around, and after their pro days they’ll move around again. But right now in most mocks ive seen, there’s a tier of Jeudy/Lamb, then there’s Ruggs III, and then usually Shenault/Higgins after that.

I rank Reagor beyond some of the talent you have listed in the top tier (and beyond any in the second tier).  His potential is just off the charts.  That’s just me though.  If the Bills pass on trading up for a WR like JJ, and don’t take Viska, it comes down to Ruggs or Reagor for me.

its probably a good thing that I’m not running the team though...  ?
