New York (again)

New York State

Statewide, Democrats now account for 50% of the state's 13.6 million voters, while Republicans are at 22%.

Another 22.4% do not belong to a party, while the rest belong to a third party.

It's hard to be fair to Independents when (not seen as a real party in NY) are the wild card . I live in the most Republican district of NYS (Lockport)  with the old lines drawn. Gerrymandering unfortunately is common in most of the country and needs reform.

The Independence Party of New York State (IPNY) gained ballot access in 1994 and became the New York affiliate of the national Reform Party in 1995. The IPNY left the Reform Party in 2000 and launched the national Independence Party of America in 2007. Though the status of the national party is unclear as of 2016, the IPNY remains active in New York.

Due to fusion voting laws in New York, the IPNY often endorses major party nominees rather than nominating its own candidates. According to a November 2015 report by the New York State Board of Elections, the IPNY had 476,873 registered voters in the state.

Opponents have noted that a large number of IPNY voters have mistakenly registered with the party in an attempt to register as independent, or unaffiliated, voters. The group acknowledged the misunderstanding and called for a change to the state's voter registration forms in its 2015 legislative agenda

I was always non partisan till Jan 6 , the Independent Party in NY was never real.

Those racist Democrats are at it again.  I didn't know you were allowed to pull the race card on members of your own party when you don't get what you want.

NY Democrats accusing one another of racism after gerrymander debacle

"Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres accused fellow Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney — who is also chairman of the House Democratic Congressional Committee — of racism following reports that allies of the Hudson Valley Democrat suggested that incumbent black Rep. Mondaire Jones is not ideologically suited to represent his newly redrawn district."

From NYC department of health.

Un ***** believable.

The department of public health is allowed to put up signs encouraging illegal behavior? Does the department of transportation have similar billboards encouraging speeding? Start slow. Test your limits.

Holy crap!!   Just when you thought your government couldn’t get any dumber. 🤦🏻‍♂️

We’re not that far removed from NYS leadership taking people with a potentially fatal virus and requiring them to be placed in direct proximity to the most vulnerable citizens in the country, in a closed environment, family members prohibited from visiting and overseeing care, and having a “Holy Crap” moment when they decided the best course of action was to cook the death count books hoping nobody would notice thousands of deaths.

They are just scratching the surface here.

had to ride the metro every single day to high school into down town buffalo then catch another one on elmwood street. got in a few fights just minding my own buisness and saw many other crazy situations as a mental clinic was also on that route. kids have to go through this s#it just to get a education in the city. meanwhile my liberal woke friends who went to suburban schools enjoyed a nice safe little yellow, what we city kids used to call "cheese" picking them up and dropping them off right on their corner.

the sad part about that video is that every person in that car including the woman terrified into tears most likely wouldn't even consider voting anything other then democrat. its amazing how dysfunctional things can get and people wont even consider making a major political change. no wonder the governors have become authoritarian. what the hell is the public going to do about it?

What amazes me on Twitter was the number of people of saying that it was a mentally ill person, so starting a fight would be bad. Teaching mentally ill people that they get special right due to their illness is not healthy for them or society. Even I'll people need to know that there is a line, and when you touch another person that line is crossed and consequences follow.

its the way our society is built now. its NY. so its not JUST a mentally ill person. its a BLACK mentally ill person. meaning if your white you definatly better just sit there and hope he doesn't pull a weopon and kill that woman. you act and you just committed a hate crime on someone with a disability who knows not what he is doing. even if your not white or security you are putting yourself at risk AFTER putting yourself at risk.

a few media outlets decide to edit out any action before you intervene now the story of a poor mentally ill man is told and then a clip of you attacking him. while they ignore the woman or witness testimony.  prepare for at the least a lawsuit and at most the president commenting on the version he chooses. time and time and time again this has happened. the public that jumps on board and villianize to destroys someone so quickly is nowhere to be found when a full video is uncovered and actual evidence is presented. even if it is 100% proven false there are STILL people that simply can't believe that they were lied to so they continue on. its is insanity!

this is all intentional heading us off a cliff. never thought in a world with information at  everyones fingertips it would be so simplistic to propagate flat out lies that stick with such a large portion of the public.

this means you are literally damned if you do damned if you don't. everyone is a god with the power of hindsight. that man plunges a knife in that poor girl and its easily shifted to how could you just sit there and watch this happen!!!! i would of.. they should of..

what a incredable power to know the intentions and outcomes of everything. armchair quarterbacking everything afterwards from the comfort of home giving our "leaders" to act on the whims of a mob that will move on the second the news cycle changes.

NY lawmaker rips Mayor Adams as NYPD sees officer exodus: Stop 'partying' and focus on crime
Mike Lawler calls out NYC mayor for appearing at recent event with celebs

A New York State assemblyman is demanding action from New York City Mayor Eric Adams as NYPD officers are reportedly leaving the department at a record rate amid a surge in violent crime.

"Obviously Mayor Adams inherited a mess from Bill de Blasio, but unfortunately, he really hasn't been able to turn the tide here.

"And I think more and more law enforcement officers, as soon as they can retire, are taking the opportunity to do so or if they could transfer to a department in the suburbs are doing so," he told co-host Carley Shimkus.

Forget the suburbs, every NYPD kid I've talked to with less than five years on is taking at least one interview with a department in Florida. Half the chiefs and sheriffs down there are New York guys. NYPD officers in good standing don't have to go to academy at all, just three weeks of paid classroom time learning Florida law. Signing bonuses and other perks. Some of those departments offer lateral officers $80k out of the gate.

Trump cleared of contempt charges, dealing loss to Democrats

by Frank Bojazi

Former President Donald Trump was cleared of contempt charges after failing to turn over documents demanded in a subpoena by the state’s attorney general, a New York judge has ruled. Trump’s April 25 contempt finding came after he contested a December subpoena seeking records related to his personal finances and the financing of several properties.

State Supreme Court shoots down quarantine and isolation provision

A New York State provision establishing isolation and quarantine procedures for those suspected of having a contagious disease was shot down in State Supreme Court on Friday night, as State Senator George Borello and his fellow plaintiffs won their lawsuit, claiming the provision was unconstitutional.

</snip>

The ruling was decided by Judge Ronald Ploetz of the State Supreme Court of Cattaraugus County, who said “there is already established Public Health Law 2120 governing isolation and quarantine, which balances individual rights and the need for public safety.”

“This ruling is a victory for the citizens of New York State because it affirms that their power, through their legislative representation, cannot be usurped,” Senator Borrello said.

We HAVE laws in place. The governor just can't make things up as we go along.

Ridiculous he was charged in the first place and spent time in Rikers. DA should resign in shame.

Candidate for Governor Lee Zeldin attacked at an event in Rochester:

Utterly bizarre that the dude just slowly walks up to Zeldin. Thankfully he only had pointed brass knuckles and was restrained before he could use them to stab Zeldin.
