Has everyone noticed how at every turn the president has to make an official ‘declaration‘ just to clear away the piles of regulations that keep the government from getting anything done? The country is just not set up for swift action on anything. Checks and balances, while good intentioned, make it really hard to get anything urgent done.

Good thing Trump is acting like he is in charge! ?

Not true. Declaring a state of emergency allows for circumventing things. They waited too long to take it seriously because trump has been more concerned about the stock market.

Even yesterday he was so giddy about Fed rate cut, and said Wall Street would be happy. Apparently they aren’t...

The COVID-19 outbreak is giving new meaning to those “sustainable” shopping bags that politicians and environmentalists have been so eager to impose on the public. These reusable tote bags can sustain the COVID-19 and flu viruses — and spread the viruses throughout the store.

Researchers have been warning for years about the risks of these bags spreading deadly viral and bacterial diseases, but public officials have ignored their concerns, determined to eliminate single-use bags and other plastic products despite their obvious advantages in reducing the spread of pathogens. In New York state, a new law took effect this month banning single-use plastic bags in most retail businesses, and this week Democratic state legislators advanced a bill that would force coffee shops to accept consumers’ reusable cups — a practice that Starbucks and other chains have wisely suspended to avoid spreading the COVID-19 virus.

John Flanagan, the Republican leader of the New York state Senate, has criticized the new legislation and called for a suspension of the law banning plastic bags. “Senate Democrats’ desperate need to be green is unclean during the coronavirus outbreak,” he said Tuesday, but so far he’s been a lonely voice among public officials.

The only one of 14 at an accounting firm office today, we have the option of taking work home, a new matter required me to come in to pick up the work, but I'd rather come in off and on the rest of the month.

I figure I've had at least 12 exposures riding the subway and working downtown since December right through February, the masks started appearing the first week of January.  A bit more than usual for the routine flu/pneumonia season.

Take care all, if you don't feel well enjoy some time at home, be kinder than usual...

Sixty-eight percent of Democratic voters are worried that an immediate family member might catch the coronavirus, compared with just 40 percent of Republicans who agree.
Fifty-six percent of Democrats believe their day-to-day lives will change in a major way in the future, versus only 26 percent of Republicans who think that.
And 79 percent of Democrats say that the worst is yet to come, versus just 40 percent of Republicans who hold the same opinion.

As the US ramps up its response to the spread of COVID-19, the Health and Human Services Department was hit with a cyberattack, according to a new report from Bloomberg.

Citing three unnamed sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg reports that the cyberattack aimed to slow down HHS computer systems Sunday night, but were unsuccessful in doing so. The attack reportedly attempted to flood HHS servers with millions of requests over the course of several hours.

Following the attempted intrusion, federal officials reportedly became aware that false information was being circulated. The false information campaigns were reportedly related to the hack, but no data was reportedly stolen from HHS systems.

The National Security Council tweeted Sunday night that there were false rumors circulating about a potential national quarantine, calling the rumors "#FAKE."

They never said it was a hoax and you know that. Trying to blame the president is disgusting and pathetic.

Having seen Italy, perhaps it was appropriate to take this very seriously. Seriously, who wants to be responsible for getting grandma sick?

Nobody does; however, as usual, you shifted the focus to avoid the point of my post. There is taking something seriously and then there is fear mongering. You know the difference.

If NASA can exist to make Muslims feel better about themselves then I guess the CDC can spend time and money figuring out why that fat beeetch who eats a dozen donuts a day is fat.

That's not changing the point.
