It's not "skewing." NYC is America just like Milan is Italy.

We've come so far since the way we were together on 9-11, when no American would have thought, "Those 3000 people don't statistically count because they are downstate."

From an analytical standpoint, it absolutely is skewing. No one is saying the people in NYC don’t count, but America is a more vast land area than Italy. In terms of lifting lockdowns in a data driven way, NYC ( and the New Jersey area) is an outlier. Comparing the galvanization of the USA post 9-11 to Coronavirus in order to diminish those who question local government restrictions is intellectually dishonest at best.

I believe that the state did ban "outpatient" use.

It was still tried in Hospitals though.

...so why was HCQ an acceptable treatment since 1955 with no newsworthy protests in 65 years until Trump advocated it?......naw no way to fault TDS........at least with the MSM, we know fecal material floats to the surface.....

It’s a great treatment for malaria and I guess lupus.

No one is opening up the country based on what happens in NYC alone. What’s right for NYC is not what’s right for Batavia. And Batavia will open a long time before and in a less restrictive way than the most population dense place in our country. So let’s not carve NYC out of the statistics and then take some kind of pride in the fudged numbers to show how great America is doing, which was the premise of that article (we are doing average compared to many places). Milan counts for Italy. Madrid for Spain. London for UK. We don’t exclude NYC because it has the most deaths and then applaud ourselves.

...not denying that at all...but there are studies where it with azithromycin were showing effective signs and as soon as Trump mentioned it, Then it became a MSM focal point of doubt and denial. So did medical contradict or was it the MSM solely displaying TDS? What say you?

I have not seen a controlled double blind study supporting it inspire of its widespread use. The big properly done studies have shown no advantage. It’s a bummer.

I had higher hopes for this than the Pepcid studies but I’d be happy with either of these widespread drugs showing a huge advantage. I could care less if the advice on HCQ came from OJ by way of KJU who read it in Hitler’s diary. Good news is good news.

In pandemic’s early days, U.S. turned down an offer to make N95 masks in America

On Jan. 22, weeks before the crisis sent the government scrambling for masks, Texas manufacturer Prestige Ameritech offered to restart four mothballed production lines. Federal officials did not take the company up on it.

It appears that the USA as a whole is doing above average, but containment in the NYC area was woefully mismanaged. Both can be true. Also, are deaths a gauge of the medical system in NYC or a reflection of the general health of a population in a geographic area ? As a whole with a couple outliers, the USA is doing pretty well.

Hindsight, right ? Cuomo didn’t stockpile ventilators in 2015 and the Obama admistration didn't stockpile N95s. The country can learn from these things.

In the end, the government did not take Bowen up on his offer. Even today, production lines that could be making more than 7 million masks a month sit dormant.

Hindsight? It's now

VITAMIN D UPDATE:

Northwestern Univ.: Vitamin D appears to play role in COVID-19 mortality rates.

“By analyzing publicly available patient data from around the globe, Backman and his team discovered a strong correlation between vitamin D levels and cytokine storm — a hyperinflammatory condition caused by an overactive immune system — as well as a correlation between vitamin D deficiency and mortality. . . . his is exactly where Backman believes vitamin D plays a major role. Not only does vitamin D enhance our innate immune systems, it also prevents our immune systems from becoming dangerously overactive. This means that having healthy levels of vitamin D could protect patients against severe complications, including death, from COVID-19.”

Plus: “Backman said this correlation might help explain the many mysteries surrounding COVID-19, such as why children are less likely to die. Children do not yet have a fully developed acquired immune system, which is the immune system’s second line of defense and more likely to overreact. ‘Children primarily rely on their innate immune system,” Backman said. “This may explain why their mortality rate is lower.’ Backman is careful to note that people should not take excessive doses of vitamin D, which might come with negative side effects.”

They have a lot of disclaimers about taking Vitamin D in response, but as it’s cheap, safe, and well-understood — and lots of people are deficient anyway — I don’t see any reason for most folks not to take it in reasonable doses.

The number of Floridians who have died vs the number of NY people is not even comparable. FL has 4 times the elderly of NYC and yet you have multiple number of deaths from the elderly as we do.

And here is the first article that popped up.

And over 70% of global deaths have occurred in 5 countries.

As pandemics go, it's no smallpox or even typhus. Thus the economic Hari-kiri was probably a grave error.
