ANKARA

A six-year old child died Tuesday in Iran’s North Khorasan province due to the novel coronavirus, according to North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences.

In a statement, the university said 189 cases were detected in the province, 19 patients of whom had died.

A total of 99 people, who had been treated from the virus, were discharged from hospitals in the province, it said.

According to Iran's Health Ministry, the average age of people who died from coronavirus was 67.

Previously, a 3-year-old toddler with leukemia had lost his life to the disease.

The body of a coronavirus-stricken Georgia health care worker was found in her home with her young child more than 12 hours after she died of the illness, according to a report.

The 42-year-old woman, who wasn’t identified, was likely dead for 12 to 16 hours before she was discovered during a welfare check Thursday at her Coweta County home, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Her child, who is 4 or 5 years old, was in the home at the time, the report said.

It is a fact, and it is driven by NYC metro area.  As Cuomo said today, the federal government needs to provide thousands of respirators from its emergency stock (not 400) since it is the epicenter of the crisis.  I'm sure the city will be bustling with work by next week though....

Pence stated today that they had shipped 2000 respirators  to NY and will ship another 2000 tomorrow. What I'd really like to hear is that they've cut off NYC and surrounding areas from the rest of the country.

How have the people living on the streets in tent encampments in the nation’s largest cities doing? Seems to me they’d be a hotbed of cases. Hard to social distance in situations like that.

Who's going to get close enough to give it to them? :bag:

No argument.

But my point still stands. Being afraid, as Jrober seems to be, is a sure fire way to make a mistake in times like this. Panic and fear are to be avoided, not encouraged.

Remember what FDR said:

"This &^%$ is really ^%$#ing scary and I have no idea how we'll ever survive it."

The federal government can either give the ventilators to New York or they can hold them.

They are sending 4000. I’m glad Trump made a point to mention Cuomo’s decision not to purchase thousands of them in 2015. He was told NY was unprepared in case of a pandemic such as this, and didn’t heed the warning. His whining and blaming the Federal Govt was rich, and he deserved to be called out on this.

Cuomo has been good and has been reluctant to criticize Trump. He's even praised him. The last couple days it seems like he's hedging his bets so he can go after Trump at a later date. People need to remember that preparing for such things as a virus is primarily a state's responsibility. The feds can coordinate and have some extra stockpiles but as a last resort. Any state that's not prepared can first fault themselves.

according to one of the constitutional scholars earlier in the thread, that’s not true because....

federalism means that each state has to defend itself from foreign invasions or some approximation of that epically brain dead statement.

You cannot develop herd immunity to this epidemy without sacrificing too many lives.

Too many people will need artificial breathing and there is no enough treatment for everybody.

And I am talking about people in the 30/50 years of age.

Now that there are BIG hot beds that went over control the only way is the lockdown italian way, also UK understood this and after he told the worst things about how we managed the infections he is simplying copying our laws.

After the big hot beds will be over, you can copy what Korea made, that is trace EVERY case and lockdown only the positve spots with the use of local mass testing and technology to follow the chains of infection.

Italy is experimenting this with success in small centers in the countryside.

We're watching the complete meltdown of the Democratic Party, and if their effort this week to halt help to the American people isn't a reminder of how unbelievably incompetent they are, imagine waking up in three months to find THIS is the guy they chose as their candidate to run for president.

He can't complete a full sentence without spitting up on himself.

You can see why @Tiberius is such a fan.
