Bills Press and Fans...It’s Time to Move On With Pat Mahomes

Good?  Mahomes has proven that he is the most valued player in the NFL..........and it's not even close.

He's probably the most universally valued player since Peyton Manning in the early 2000's and before that Dan Marino in the mid-80's.

Every owner would trade anything they have to get Mahomes so let's not undersell it.........he's the type of player/personality who gets stadiums built and turns regional franchises into world recognized ones.........trading the chance to pick him when they were desperate for a franchise QB will likely rank up there with the worst decisions in the history of sport.

The reality is though that Mahomes isn't going to go Jordan on the NFL...............the Bills can still win SB's in the span of Mahome's career despite the enormity of the error.

The Chicago Bears just chimed in, they would like to make clear that they call dibs on the gold medal in this category.

Totally unfair to paint the Bills with this brush when they didn’t even have the first, or 9th, crack at this nut that year, imho.

Opposing QB’s in 2020 should be seriously concerned about that possibility. He was lights out enough even before this perceived slight!

I already feel sorry for Mahomes when he plays against us next season.

It's not time to move on........running from your mistakes is cowardly, weak and unproductive.............this blunder is something to learn from and draw motivation from.

The Red Sox and their fans have never moved on from the embarrassment of trading Babe Ruth...........and yes they had a huge championship drought...........but the hate of the Yankees that they built up has fueled them to be the 2nd best winning % team in the history of the American League and 5th best in MLB history.

The Bills organization is 0-54 at winning SB's..............they need every ounce of organizational motivation/drive they can get and if it has to come from shame/embarrassment then I will take that.

And the NFL is much more forgiving of stupidity like trading Mahomes............there are numerous factors that make repeating harder in the NFL and even the NFL's all-time great QB won the SB less than 1/3 of his career seasons.

there's admitting and moving on.  to say the bills are running from anything is a bit much.  dwelling on something that you can't fix is wildly unproductive.  the words cowardly and weak are nothing more than hot words you threw in to create drama.

it's been time to move on for a while.  it would be way more fun to have him on this team, but it's not longer an option, so move on.  i wonder if chicago fans have this much trouble with it.

They do but I think golf, bowling and strippers are more important than football in Chicago. People in Chicago are praying the McCaskey’s sell the team or another team locates to Schaumburg.

Running from it?  The next year they drafted the QB they feel leads them to championships.

Not the least bit unfair.........at least the Bears took a shot.

What's unfair is comparing the franchises.

The Chicago Bears have won 9 NFL championships.........including a SB team which is considered among the most dominant of all time.......... and have the second highest winning % in the history of the league.

The Bills are a laughingstock organization......a hard earned distinction....... who didn't have the balls to even pick a QB even though they were desperate for one............and then GAVE a great QB to a team in their own conference.

Wrt the hard earned part..........keep in mind that at the time they passed on Mahomes they had never picked a QB with their original first #1 pick in ANY draft.

It was a colossal mistake...........accept it and use it as motivation.

its low hanging fruit.....easy column to write....extremely easy radio is negative radio and that why you hear it a lot. Two playoffs in three years a young talented team, exciting players good head coach and general manager who have made a ton of good moves.

radio take: Boy that Zay Jones pick didn't work out

A colossal mistake? Every team in front of us could have picked him and every team behind us could have traded with us, 31 teams made this mistake, about 25 of them wish they would have done what KC did. What it proves is only KC believed in the kid, the rest had their reservations. This was only a cant miss pick for all the posters who have 20/20 memory...

It stings because we were the team that traded with KC for them to select him.

It stings because not only we passed on him, we passed on Watson too.

It stings because we took a QB (over Mahomes and Watson) who had a ton of flaws in college that is showing again now.

Make no mistake, it sucks. There’s no sugar coating it.

And if Allen blossoms next year into an All Pro QB with more offensive help and a lot of experience under his belt (put up 2nd most TDs in Bills History this year)...we walked with 3 studs then in Tre, Edmunds, and then Allen...I would take two All Pro anchors of the defense and a All Pro QB over one elite player any day of the week.

Our future is bright...people need to move on.  Some of you have closed the book on Allen, which is utterly stupid.  Lets not forget...Allen in his 2nd year in the league, with a midget group of WR's and 9 total new players on the offense around him...still did this:

2nd most TD's in Bills history.

Was 2nd ONLY to Lamar in TD's in the NFL from week 5 on and put up 21 to just 3 turnovers too.

The kid can ball...the players and coaches LOVE him and all are supremely confident in him.  He had some growing pains at times, he tries to do too much at times, and he was also saddled with a sub par offensive cast that will be much improved next year after another offseason of adding a couple more pieces to it.

We will not only be perennial playoff team next 5 years, but a SB contender too.  This team fights hard top to bottom.  Our GM and Coach love this team and us fans.  We have one of the best GM's in the NFL right now who is armed with $90m in cap space plus extra picks going into this offseason to keep our team in tact and add more key pieces around this already dangerous squad.

So...sorry...you are choosing to let something sting that shouldn't.  We have done quite well under Beane and our future is bright.  Why dont you cry about not drafting Tom Brady many different times over those 6 rounds...or Wilson...or any player in NFL history that went on to have a great career that was drafted after we picked someone else because it happens every single draft to every single team in NFL history.

Nice!

I wonder how Josh Allen would look in KC after sitting a year behind Alex Smith? Dude would be tearing the league up and deemed a NFL superhero.

The NFL is a business.........in business it's dumb not to remember your mistakes and learn from them and use them as motivation.

"Dwelling" is for those with nothing else to do.........which certainly isn't the case for people running an NFL organization.

Now if you are......let's say........ a secretary at OBD.......and the biggest decision you make that day is what to have for lunch............yeah it's probably not productive to think too much.

Yeah man, if Allen is an All-Pro next year it all worked out. The odds of that are super low.
