What position does Beane prioritize in FA?

I believe it will he edge rusher.

In his press conference he really got a bit more detailed about how there’s not enough elite pass rushers for each team in the league and how important a position it is.

I think they realize the defense could be do for a slight regression, and that edge is one of the few places they could make a splash that would change that defense around overnight.

I also believe there’s better money to be spent on the edge position than any in free agency. Ngakoue, Clowney, Vic Beasley, Dante Fowler, hell Jason Pierre-Paul had 8.5 sacks in 10 games. Robert Quinn, Mario Addison... etc etc.

Probably right . Then maybe TE and OL. Not a ton of quality there at WR, so it will likely have to be a trade situation there to get immediate help. They still need to draft a WR, but they’ve got a bit need there and just a draft pick won’t cover it.

I think they might throw an offer at Hooper, but if they can’t get him, I don’t really see any other guys being big upgrades.
Ebron drops as many as Knox.

Henry is hurt as much as Kroft.

Not much after that.

As for O-Line I believe they try to bring Spain back and then draft a guy who can play guard/tackle later on (4th-5th round).

Some of those guys I can see on Beanes magical contract scale. I don’t see any of them as cornerstone 100 million dollar guys though. I think fans might be upset and deflated if he doesn’t break open the check book to sign the “top guys on free agent boards”

I generally dismiss the top 5-10 at every position when I shop free agents.
And we still have franchise tags to be handed out. And of course cuts for cap needy teams.

You could see more than half those guys you mentioned gone before free agency even begins.

I’d take Ebron over Knox for sure.

Yeah I still think RT is a problem. Ford might be a G

That got fixed last off-season, no?

We had a 16 point lead at the half of a playoff game and then ran the ball 8 times after the half.  You tell me

Our OL doesn’t suck, but it’s not an asset imo.  It’s just ok.  Josh allen needs a better OL if we wanna win the SB

I was kidding.  many credited the FO for fixing the O-line.  It's not fixed yet.

I believe Beane's top priority is WR-1A then DE-1B. depends on what talent is available in FA. Our offense needs to get better. It obviously was better than 2018 but we need more talent on that side of the ball. Big time playmakers, if we want to see the offense step up from mediocrity to good. If they want to give Josh the best opportunity to succeed they need more talent on offense.

Copy that.

By fixing I take it to mean made it NFL caliber . 2018 line was a bad joke. 2019 was decent, but not a strength as you mentioned. Those who think fixing meant made it elite are off base. It was too far gone to do that in one offseason.

Bills should cut some of their own guys like Kroft/Murphy/Lee Smith/ Spencer Long/ which will save them about 20 million in cap space and sign guys with above average talent..  We sign 2  high end guys like Bud Dupree LB/DE / Conklin RT and than we set ourselves up nice for the draft.  I would resign Lawson and Philips,  another player on the roster with big question mark is Star.  The problem with cutting him is that even though we would have another 2 mill in cap savings we also would have 7.8 mill in dead money.  End of the day Bills need to decide if signing a free agent DT improves their run defense.

don’t cut players until replacement in house. 89M in cap space you can sign ANYONE without cutting anyone. And take everyone to camp for Competition

Yeah. That’s pretty standard operating procedure for teams.  Get at least serviceable starters under contract at all positions and then the draft becomes more about long term gains, not just filling needs.  It also helps keep other teams from easily discerning your targets in the draft.

I agree with the OP that Edge should be the #1 FA priority.  It’s not a great draft for the position so finding an upgrade to what we have there is not likely - at least not in the near term.  It’s going to cost big, but it’s our only real way to upgrade at Edge this offseason unless a trade option comes into play.

Murphy 53 players. Leaves you 37 spots to get to 90.  Bills can sign anyone you want without cutting anyone at this point.

there are zero triggers that force a move. So sign who you want. Try and flip who has value and worst case cut after camp
