Coach's Challenge on ALL Penalties

Recommended Posts

After the Saints playoff game last year the NFL tried to remedy their inept officiating with a challenge for Pass Interference. I thought that was a total cop out by the league because there have been so many bad calls and missed calls beyond just PI over the years that should have been immediately rectified with all the HD cameras and angles we have.  Tonight yet again we have an absolutely horrible call that affected the result of the game. If the refs had reviewed the blindside block on Ford they would have clearly seen that 1. Ford and the Texans player were facing each other and had eye contact. 2. There was a time for the Texans player to know he was going to be blocked and 3. Ford barely touched him and did not hit him low or in the head. There needs to be a mechanism that coaches have where they can challenge a call that is that bad and that impactful on the game (at least one chance in game).  Or the Ref in the booth needs to buzz down to the refs on the field and say sorry you blew it with that call, pick up the flag!

We could be going to 2nd round now if Hauschka kicks that FG. But instead we literally get cheated out of the chance by asinine officiating. At least in the NHL the refs have the good sense in OT of letting the teams decide it and putting the whistles away unless it is a clear and egregious foul but not the ticky tack officials in the NFL!!

I couldn't believe it when I saw the replay. What a BS call! And there was also a BLATANT hold by the Texans' RT that wasn't called shortly after. There was no issues with the refs either side could complain about (except that 2nd half kickoff ha ha) but then... this??? It was such crap!

A) it’s not going to happen

B) it would not have been overturned if it was reviewed.  Contact was made with shoulder, as well as arms, but the league has shown over and over they would rather not overturn if at all possible.  That was a (poor) judgement call, so they would have supported it.

I wish you could challenge delay of games. There is nothing subjective about it either.

The Delay Of Game penalty should sound off like an air-horn, similar to the NBA's shot clock.

This one is clearly on the refs. They ***** us 3 separate ways. We should have been waiting for the refs in the parking lot. Such bull####

Add in the delay of game on 3rd and 18 too. You need to be able to challenge that like the NBA does. It's very easy to determine if a play was started before the play clock expired. But we get shafted on that too.
