NFL playoffs wild-card weekend: Biggest injury questions for all eight teams

No. 4 Houston Texans vs. No. 5 Buffalo Bills

Will Texans wide receiver Will Fuller V play against the Bills? Head coach Bill O'Brien said it's too early in the week to tell, but the receiver is making progress toward being on the field against Buffalo. Defensive end J.J. Watt expects to return from a torn pectoral muscle on Saturday but said he isn't sure how much he will play after missing eight games. -- Sarah Barshop

Will Levi Wallace play? The Bills' starting cornerback opposite Tre'Davious White was carted into the locker room last week after injuring his ankle in the first quarter. Although he missed practice Tuesday, he returned to the field Wednesday -- a positive sign for his availability Saturday. Kevin Johnson can competently fill in if need be, but Fuller or no Fuller, Buffalo will need all hands on deck against the Texans' group of receivers. -- Marcel Louis-Jacques

Other snippets

No. 3 New England Patriots vs. No. 6 Tennessee Titans

Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty has been slowed by a nagging groin injury, and he is one of seven players who has been limited in practice. If he is cleared, he could prove to be an ideal option against some of the Titans' multiple-tight-end options.

Adoree' Jackson (foot) was a full participant in back-to-back practices to start the week.

No. 3 New Orleans Saints vs. No. 6 Minnesota Vikings

The Saints are getting healthier at the right time. Last week, they got their full offensive line back. And now their secondary is healing.

The Vikings' backfield is nearing full strength, pending the returns of Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison.

No. 4 Philadelphia Eagles vs. No. 5 Seattle Seahawks

Tight end Zach Ertz (ribs) hasn't been cleared for contact. Although he was able to participate in a light practice to start the week, he needs the medical green light before suiting up against the Seahawks

All week, Pete Carroll has sounded confident but not quite certain about free safety Quandre Diggs' returning for the Seahawks' game at

What I didn't realize until today ....  Wentz ready to take his first NFL postseason snaps

Playoff jitters for Carson?

The Philadelphia Eagles earned a playoff spot for the third straight season, but despite owning a Super Bowl ring, Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks will mark the first postseason snaps for quarterback Carson Wentz.

Wentz missed the previous two playoff runs due to injury, watching Nick Foles lead Philly to its first Lombardi Trophy two years ago.

Funny that he mentions “playoff jitters” for Carson, but not for Josh. As for the Bills, Texans, he basically says Bills defense will be up to the task and Texans will not. I hope he’s right.

Ryan Tannehill is also playing his first playoff game.

Might have just mentioned that because he maybe he thought casual fans had forgotten that Wentz' season ended earlier than the Iggles season did the last 2 years; so though he's hung out on the sideline in the playoffs frequently, he's never actually participated beyond that.

yup.  It’s why the Iggles fans didn’t want to let Foles go

7 Bold Predictions for the playoffs

Quote

Patriots go 1-and-done

New England has gone to eight straight AFC championships, but these Patriots don't have the same offensive firepower those teams had. The defending champions are about to realize that defense and special teams can only take a team so far in this era of offensive football. - Alex Chippin

Quote

Road team wins every wild-card game

Home-field advantage won't mean much early in this year's postseason. Every visitor will emerge with a victory on Wild Card Weekend, marking just the second time in NFL history every home team lost in a four-game playoff round. The only other occurrence was in the wild-card round that followed the 2015 season. Some results will be less surprising than others, like the Eagles losing to the Seahawks and the Texans dropping their home game against the Bills, but upsets from the Titans and Vikings will shock football fans and make this a clean sweep. - Dan Wilkins

Here’s my dilemma for the day....

watching the patriots game and risking seeing them win another playoff game which makes me want to puke.

or not watching and risking missing The moment it all comes to an end...

not sure whqt to go with, will probably depend on the Bills game...
