We still haven’t quite figured it out unfortunately...

The defense was the problem in the 2nd game. They couldn't stop a nose bleed. They had nearly a 2-1 edge is time of possession and we were still on the doorstep at the end. Josh was night and day from the first meeting in the year as well. The Pats are no longer the dominant force they were before. It will all come crashing down Saturday night in Gillette. Can't wait to hear the "boo birds" out in full force and Brady looking like he's about to cry on the sidelines.

Not really.... The offense couldn’t score more than17 points.  If Miami scores 17 points they lose

Lol defense has been figured out because they gave up 17 and 20 points the last two games? Sigh I swear people over react to everything! The Pats D is still very good, the Pats O still isn’t very good. The awful O lost that game not a D giving up 20 Pooh ya on an off day.

This is kind of my point.  It’s shocking how many people give the Bills offense a pass for only being able to score 17 points against NE.  It’s not good enough to win

Bills - 21:08 with New England - 38:52

Miami - 33:51 with New England - 26:09

Do you understand that the longer your team has control of the ball the more points you have the opportunity to score? New England had 3 scoring drives that ate up a total of 23:00 of game time. That is just 3 drives. That is over 1/3 of the game on 3 scoring drives and we only lost by 7 points. An 11 play 7:26 drive, a 17 play 8:58 drive, and a 11 play 6:40 drive. The dominated us on the ground, on the short passes, and just kept the chains moving. The defensive game plan they had did not work. You do realize that Brady also gifted Miami a pick 6 in that game as well, right? If Brady doesn't do that then the Phins lose.

Yes and you want know why the time of possession was opposite against Miami? Because McDaniels outsmarted himself and went away from what was working which was running the football.  The Pats need run the ball to have any chance right now on O as Brady isn’t what he use to be either from age or injury. (That pick 6 was the worst throw I have ever seen him throw ever. Well at least with no pressure right on him)

Sure the defensive game plan did not work.  I’m not arguing that.  They are *part* of the reason the Bills lost.  The other part is the offense.

There were too many 3 and out drives.  The Bills couldn’t move the ball against the defense.

And here’s something that everyone conveniently forgets.  When the Bills went up 17-10, they then proceeded to go 3 and out over their possessions. That’s not going to win you games against New England.

So going back to my original point, many Bills fans are giving the Bills a complete pass on the NE loss and I don’t feel it’s warranted

Yep, it was a true team loss, the D wasn't stopping the Pats early on and then when the O finally went ahead they kind of went quiet afterwards. That said I still shake my head at the non intentional grounding call against Brady as if the refs call that correctly than the whole game could be changed.

The Pats and Bills both benefited from playing historically weak schedules.  Both teams defense's were good against winning teams. Neither teams defense truly excelled against winning teams.

The Patriots were a victim of their own ego on Sunday.

They figured the Dolphins were pushovers, and wanted to roll into the playoffs with a dominating 30+ point win.  So instead of doing what works for their offense, they came out throwing - which is literally the weakest part of their team.

With that said, don't underestimate how dangerous the Patriots are going to be in the playoffs.  Yes, they are seriously flawed.  Yes, Tom Brady is now a shell of himself.  But they won't be underestimating or looking past anyone in the postseason.  They still have (way) more experience than anyone else, and know how to win playoff games.  And their performance against us in Week 16 proves they can still put together some offense, especially when their backs are against the wall.

Tennessee needs to be watching the film from Week 16 against us, and not from Week 17 against the Dolphins.  Because that is how Josh McDaniels will be rolling on Saturday.

The y are both very good Defenses not historic good like the 2000 Ravens but if either one had a top 15 Offense they had a good chance be undefeated this year. (Neither D did lol)

It's not "giving the Bills a pass" to admit that the defense was bad that game, especially when you realize the fact that because the Pats dominated the time of possession is a huge reason they won. The fact that we were on the doorstep at the end with a chance to tie, Josh barely missing on a throw to Knox in spite of that edge in time of possession, is an amazing change and a compliment in itself from the way he performed the first game. I do not like the conservative nature of our team at times and I do not defend them for it. It puts too much of the pressure on the defense. As good as they may be, it's not going to win us a SB because they aren't the early 2000's Ravens or Buccaneers. It has to be a combination of Josh playing well and the defense doing their jobs as they have been for the most part. McDermott and Daboll both need to learn when to go for the jugular, not let teams hang around.

It’s gonna happen brother. They are D-O-N-E. Been saying it all year. I have watched a bunch of their games. That D isn’t elite, it is opportunistic. If you play smart and take what they give you, you can score points. I think some of it has to do with their front seven being scheme fits. Ie run specialists or pass specialist instead of three down players.
If Tenn shoots themselves in the foot, which is about the only way the Pats are winning a playoff game, the Pats will lose the next week.
The End is here for the Deplorable Dynasty that’s been wrought with illegal activity on and off the field.

Ultimately I consider both defenses untested.  Based on the Bills vs. Eagles and Ravens and Pats vs. Ravens, I don't see either defense really stopping teams like the niners/saints/chiefs/ravens/seahawks.  If the Bills throttle the Texans, then I will consider them tested and passing the test, and consequently revise my "untested" opinion.

Pats D is very good again not all time good but good.  The only team I don’t think the Pats could beat IF they play their game (run the ball:play action) is the Ravens.  The Pats D biggest weakness isn’t the pass rush or the corners but their ability to cover the TE and Baltimore has 3 good ones. While I think BB can scheme cover up one (aka Keller) all 3 I just don’t see happening.

You are right the Pats time is at the sunset with Brady.. but never rule out a team that has one of the greatest QBs of all time from getting hot for 3 games..
